Bored at work. So I'm wondering what every one else does for a job/career. How do you make those fat stacks?

Me, my actual title is Print Specialist. I buy printed materials, do some graphic design work, am getting into account management and pretty much any other thing that needs to be done. I work for a small agency and we are contracted to one large corporation. I actually have an office in that corporations building. I am hoping one day that corporation will offer me a job. As much as I hate the corporate world, I would rather have a job with them then with the agency I am at due to the unstableness of the agency.

I enjoy my job. I am really good at it. I like the challenges from time to time. I get to sit at a desk, listen to my music on my computer and close my office door. What more could I ask for? I get paid pretty decently for this area. And I get 5 weeks of vacation. Not a lot to complain about.

So how about you all? What do you do to afford fantastic TG16 games?

I had a job like that once.

Even though I'm talking shit in most threads, this time I'll try to remain serious.

I'm a pimp.

Just kidding. I'm working in an engineering office and design facades for buildings. Lots of glass, steel and aluminium involved. Usually I sit at the desk using AutoCAD, but every now and then I'll pay our sites a visit and help the mechanics with the installation. Fun, fun, fun.

That sounds like it could be fairly interesting.

Actually, I think I work for the same company as mitsuman with almost the same position. You might want to look at the contract, mine states that my customer company absolutely can not hire any of the contracted employees. They couldn't give me a job if they wanted to.

A couple years ago I talked to the person I would work under. She said the contract would not be an issue. And as for the contract on our side, there is nothing stopping me. The owner and my boss both have told me they keep expecting to get offered a job from our client company.

And you buy print too? What area of the U.S. are you in? Just wondering if we use the same printers.  LOL

Since December 2013, I have been working for a large Japanese cram school company, and I'm the only foreigner among its 1600+ employees. Most of my time is spent preparing to teach the CEO, who is crazy smart and takes a 90 minute daily private English lesson, as well as the three executive directors. Also, I try to support the core English teachers and prepare them for big changes in the way English is taught in Japan.

The company is very progressive and has big plans for its English department, which is a nice opportunity for me, but I have to work six days a week, and that blows considerably.

I clean carpets, floor tiles, & woodfloors with my dad.  He's getting up there in age, not sure what'll happen.  I mainly have a lot of problems with social anxiety, & dealing with customers...well, yeah.  Some are pretty easy, but some are demanding, arrogant, & like to stare at me while I work.  What happens then?  I can't concentrate on my work, because I can physically FEEL their eyes starting at me.  What's funny, is that I feel like I'd have no problem if they were watching me on camera, but, with them physically there.... :/  I also have a hard time in general talking to people on the phone, & have unreasonable anxiety(as if any of my anxiety is reasonable) in thinking that I'll say something stupid, or be misunderstood.  In any case, I'll just see what happens & wing it.

Also, partially due to my lack of self confidence to run the business(but also to help pay the bills), I work for my brother at a warehouse down the street from me.  He buy re-furbished diapers & syringes & sells them for profit, & I catalogue said diapers & syringes, oh, & sometimes re-furbished condoms.  Seriously though, he buys & resells electronics, toners, etc.  Random stuff.  So far, I just try to find time(& energy) to do some inventory atleast a couple times a week after my regular job, usually on Wednesday nights & Saturday afternoons.  I basically just go thru stuff he has ready for me, look for part #'s(if there are any) or any other kind of markings, write them down, take various pics, weigh them, & put them up on shelves.  If VERY boring, but, I don't have anyone I have to deal with looking over my shoulder.  Actually, it does get lonely there, especially when I'm there late at night. :/

My wife got a degree or whatever for AutoCAD at ITT.  It sounds like you do, what she used to do.  When we were dating, she working for Western Pacific Industrial Structures, & making decent money, but they moved down south & the trek got to be a bit much for her.  She ended up at Home Depot for a while designing kitchens & did that for several different places using AutoCAD.  Nowadays she doesn't use it as much, but she works at Lynda.com & re-arranges offices there, & does hospitality & stuff.  It's a long, but nice drive there, decent pay, & (thankfully) they have good health insurance.

Currently I work in a small manufacturing company that produces very high end circuit boards.  Its all pretty much aerospace and military stuff.  This stuff makes a Duo board seem ridiculously simple.  I cant go into details since its all classified stuff.  Our customers are companies like Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Exelis etc.  My specific job is assembling layers of printed circuits with layers of insulating materials to be pressed together.

Starting in fall again I should be back in college to finally finish a degree in mechanical engineering.  Beyond that I want to get into alternative energy research and hopefully work for this place...

When I retire I'd like to teach at the college level...

Before all this I was a BMW mechanic for about 8 years.  Screw working on cars tho.

I don't think this job will last another couple months, so I'm on the hunt. Evo or whoever was looking forward to taking advantage of people in a shitty situation, stand by.

I've been on meds for almost 20 years.  Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't.  I've been switched around to different ones for depression & anxiety.  I'm now getting tired of my back n' forth of them working.  I'd like to get off meds, partly due to not wanting to sacrifice my body, so I can be sort of sane.  They have to check various things once a year, I think the liver is the main one that these meds tend to attack & both my brother & I get regular blood tests to see how our organs are doing(though, he's managed to stay on Prozac all these years).

My wife got off meds recently, & has been on them for 20+ years after something someone did to her that really messed her up.  She's doing ok, but, as expected, has withdrawl & detox symptoms.  She's been doing more aroma therapy with essential oils, seems to be really helping her, but, getting off meds is a loooooong road.  I hope someday I can do it, as even now with all my meds I still get hot flashes, my throat tightens up & hurts like hell, or sometimes it's my chest, heart palpitations, etc.  It makes earning a living & being the man of the house & being a responsible adult annoying, but I ain't giving up.  I just keep fighting, keep doing research, keep trying new things to try to keep me calm.
