Hi all, I have the following items for sale.

Star Soldier: The Movie (Running Boy) & Game King (Takahashi Meijin) VHS

I don't know what this rates as on the rarity scale, but in the last 5 years or so of searching, I've not seen this VHS tape available for sale since purchasing it. I purchased this in Japan a couple of years ago. It plays through 100% and features the anime movie Running Boy (basically a kind of 'Star Soldier: The Movie', to coin a descriptive name for it).

As a bonus, the feature short film, Game King, starring Takahashi Meijin is included at the end of the cassette.

The cassette is in excellent condition considering it's age. You'd probably want to get it transferred digitally soon though if you plan on preserving it in it's entirety at the best possible quality.  O:)

I am not sure if the cover is supposed to be in 3 pieces. Each piece looks clean enough, like it is supposed to be that way, so I'll leave it marked as intact. Either way, the colours are bright and it's in good condition, again, considering it's age.

Salamander 3 x VHS full set of movies

This is a full set of 3 Salamander movies on VHS. They are official Konami cassettes and not bootlegs. One of the covers is very sunfaded on the front. The rest is fine. The other two cassette covers are fine, no sunfading at all.

All the tapes play through 100% with no issues and were purchased in Japan myself. Like the Running Boy cassette, you'd want to be looking at transferring these soon if you want to preserve them, just thinking about the age of the cassettes really.  O:)

Running Boy official 7" vinyl

This is the 7" vinyl record containing the Running Boy theme and another track by Takahashi Meijin. I've never played this record though so I don't know what the song is on the flip side. Also included is a Takahashi Meijin autograph (I think it's a print) that was packed in with this vinyl record.

This would make a perfect compliment to the Running Boy movie. Like the VHS tape, this is a record I've not seen for sale since purchasing it about 3 years ago. There is a much more common 12" vinyl though and another 7" I've seen for sale, but not this particular different release.

One other thing I have for sale, which I add here to save making another thread (and on the off-chance someone may want it) is a DoDonpachi Gamest VHS. Again, like the other tapes I have, this plays through 100%.

Yes. Super Darius Perfection is the PC Engine game. Darius II, the arcade game. Same as with the first Darius release. Darius Gaiden though is totally different. It's a live action movie wrapped around the game. It's very cool! (And quite disturbing!).

I had no idea there was so much Darius media!!  Also, do you have a link to that Darius Gaiden movie?  My curiosity is piqued...

I've not seen it available online anywhere (though that's not to say it's not been made available). I believe I have the complete set of Laserdiscs (I wrote about them here on my blog: http://iancortina.co.uk/2014/01/17/darius-laserdiscs/). It took me a couple of years to complete the collection. I did have Darius 2 on VHS as well (the others are available on VHS as well) but sold it as I preferred the Laserdisc (no chance of the picture degrading, but on the flip side every chance of disc rot in the years to come).

There was a G-Darius VHS as well, though I've never seen a Laserdisc for that one, and I don't think it was an offficial release either. I think anything that came after that would be 'in-house' recordings from game centre's (Mikado springs to mind), YouTube and so on.

Foreword.

In terms of gaming, collecting and all that goes with it, this is probably the toughest 'for sale' advert I've ever made. This isn't a full set, all sealed and worth millions. However this set is more than that, in my opinion. The PC Engine has been a console close to my heart for decades. This is a collection that has taken me literally years to put together. I am extremely reluctant to let this go, but for personal reasons it's time. Because of the whole reluctance factor, and the fact I'd like to see this collection go to a proper home, this will only be for sale as a bundle. No splits, no trades, no nothing. It's either all or nothing.

Here is a bit of background on exactly what this bundle comprises and a bit about the condition of the items. I'm not going in to NeoGeo collector levels of OCD describing everything here, but if you do have any questions about specific items etc, please drop me a PM. Due to the fact a baby is due in our family at any day now, you may not receive the promptest of responses, but I promise I will get back to you ASAP so please be patient. Questions about selling items separately, trades, lowballing etc will not receive a response as it's already stated in this post that the collection is for sale as one lot. Thank you.




How Much? and Shipping

For folks who may just want to get to the point first, and then read the rest if they wish to I've added the price of this bundle next. Please note, the price does not include shipping. Naturally with a package of high value, this will not be shipped any other way than by insured, tracked and registered courier. No exceptions. Insurance to the full value of the goods will also be applied. If you want to arrange your own shipping logistics, you are welcome to do so, but only so long as the items are tracked, registered and insured to the full value and proof is provided.

The price I am asking for this collection is €1350 (approx £970 at the current exchange rate). Payable by PayPal, Bank Transfer or cash on collection in person. If paying by PayPal, you are responsible for covering the fees. Please do not send via PayPal gift, because if anything were to go wrong and mediation were needed, PayPal won't give two hoots. Please only send as a normal transaction and make sure to cover the fees so the final figure, post fees, is the agreed sale price. If paying by Bank Transfer, the same rule applies. Please ensure you are covering any transaction fees applied by your bank. Anything other than the aforementioned will be rejected and directly refunded to you.




What's Included?

First up, the console itself. This is a PC Engine Duo R that has been modified by well-known console restorer 'doujindance'. It has had an LED replacement, RGB modification, region switch (plays TurboGrafx and PC Engine HuCards, TurboChip's and relevant CD titles), new CD laser lens installed and an overall thorough clean. It also comes complete with controllers, an RGB SCART cable, power supply and {optional, if you want to supply your own) step-down transformer. This console, when not in use is stored in a container in a cupboard with a few silica gel bags in the tub). It is clean, working 100% and ready to go.












To compliment the console is a Turbo Everdrive, from Krikzz. It comes complete with SD card and is clean and fully working 100%.



An additional Hori Super Commander control pad is included. This is a superb (and my preferred) alternative to the Avenue 6 pad. An excellent controller, clean and fully working.



This is the cherry on the cake. The Micomsoft XE-1 Pro HE joystick. The definitive PC Engine arcade stick. This one was purchased as NOS (New Old Stock). It has been opened and used a handful of times (literally). When not in use it has been kept inside it's box and stored in a cupboard. The box itself, when originally purchased, has some slight sunfading to one small part of the side of the box, as you can see in the pictures. Other than the slight box fading, this is basically near-mint condition.









The Games

Finally, the games. I keep all of my games in storage in boxes made by The Really Useful Box Company. I keep each game in cellophane bags and toss in a couple of packs of silica gel in to the container. All games are tested and working 100%. I have a couple of loose Hu Cards too, these are tested and working too. Any problems with the loose ones, a small cotton bud and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts will do the trick. Just wanted to add that as these particular games are loose. I've 3 loose games, not pictured, that will be included. The step-down transformer is also not pictured. You may wish not to take it as it will add a lot to the shipping cost.

[Buy/Sell/Trade / FS: PC Engine GT (full SMD recap, refurbished)]

Parting with my lovely PC Engine GT console. No PSU, no box etc, just the console.

The console itself is in great shape. When I first got it from Japan, someone had fitted a microscopic switch on the side of it, taking with it a few mm (literally) of the shell. So I colour-matched it with some Sugru and sanded it down to look back to how it should. The screen is excellent, no stuck pixels, marks etc. Screenshots show Gunhed running so hopefully you get an idea of the quality. Hard to convey I guess unless you see it for yourself in person!

The audio was a little weak when I got it, so I gave it a full overhaul with a full capacitor set for both the video and audio. All have been refitted with brand new surface mount capacitors and the one on the PCB behind the monitor has been replaced with a like-for-like thru hole capacitor. It's got a nice vivid image and nice clean audio. The wiring to the built-in speaker was also rewired with new cables and fresh solder.

Not really much more to say other than it works just great and with a full service it just received, should see you happy for many years to come.

Back in 2012/13 I wrote a review for a PC Engine/TurboGrafx video game named Violent Soldier. I decided a review wasn't going to be enough so I made a faux TV commercial trailer to compliment it. This video is the result.
