It's a bit like that, yes. We have a pretty sweet safety net even if it fails again and again in countless examples. :D

Okay, then I understand the situation a bit further. It's a shame, really, but I guess I have to accept this is a sad story probably with a violent ending.
#252
That's just guessing. If someone isn't capable of being amongst other people they can be given treatment here in Sweden at least, I don't know about the US and courts and all that.. But hey man, I just had to say what I believe is the right thing to do, I don't believe in hating a person that's mentally sick. What YOU all decide to do (or not do) is up to you. I'm happy I found PC Engine-lovers so I don't care about the rest. :)
#253
Sinistron: Yeah, well maybe I don't get it , but when someone is sick I tend to want to help the person, not avoid him/her. It sure is tricky though if every interaction with him makes the interactor a target for ever.. But if everybody just watches the poor bastard get more and more crazy, maybe a suicide isn't far fetched and is that really the best sollution? Couldn't the.. "community" have done something more than just trying to reason with him, since it obviously is impossible? Have people tried to get in touch with his relatives and explained the whole internet-drama-situation? Maybe it would be possible to have him institutionalized without access to computers or something like that? The turnaround (if not for him so for the situation) must start somewhere, right?

Last night I popped Silent Hill 4: The Room in my PSTwo. I'm ashamed because I never finished it. I call the Silent Hill-series my favorite and thus I really should have cleared every part of it, but I gave up towards the end five years ago - when the stupid ghosts fucked it all up. You know, the ones that can't be stopped if you didn't get all the stupid "swords" or what the stupid things stupid was. But this time, I'm older, bigger, better, smarter, clevrerer, smartester... Yeah, this time! Can't wait for the sun to go down so I can continue. :)

Quote from: Mathius on 10/26/2010, 08:32 PMThat's a cool looking NES! I would like a Mega Man 2 themed one that would automatically play MM2 when there is no other game inserted (kinda like the Master System does with Hang-On.) That would be cool! :)
Thank you! Yeah, that WOULD be cool. :D I was thinking about closing the hatch with glue, make it airtight and take away the little edge (that works like a minihandle) and go over it with more silver, so it is just a box with no opening what so ever and then put Mega Man inside it. It seems like a waste of a perfectly good NES, but if you have like.. four of them, and love Mega Man, it's cool. But I never went through with it.

Here's my attempt:

I just made the basics, changed the red LED for blue, put some blue LEDs all around inside, made it silver instead of gray on the top half and put some blue bomber on it to finish it off. Nothing complicated you know, I wanted to start off easy and then I never advanced.. It is also fixed to play US-games but they run way too slow on a PAL-system anyway.
#260
Quote from: guestwhat. no dreamcast? :)
Like SignOfZeta mentioned, Dreamcast came before them. I consider that console to be out of sync with the rest of the generations, making it even more awesome. I would actually take Dreamcast over Xbox because of the shoot 'em ups.

Sidenote: I liked PS2 better "back in the day" so I've got like 60 games for PS2 that I'd rather have on Xbox because of the graphics, that kind of sucks. :)

Anyway, the Gamecube. Yeah. I really like it. The more I think about it, the more I want to put it as my wallpaper, get a tattoo with it and what not. But first I have to get the PC Engine-one!

Quote from: Starfighter on 10/26/2010, 10:29 AMand he is obviously not well.
Sure he isn't well. He's a fruit-loop from the nut house up in togus who ripped of his head and shitted down his neck. So now tell me, how can he be well?
That's the whole point, why bite on retarded bait? He is not going to stop and all the fuss is making him continue (I don't think he would stop if he got ignored, but at least then nobody would cheer him on) so it's a bit like screaming at the stars to quit burning immediately. They prolly won't. ;)
#263
I think it's kind of sad really... I have read a little more about this guy and he is obviously not well. Isn't there something more constructive that can be done instead of just "fighting back"?
#264
I like the GC because it's a cube (the best shape!), because it have sweet controllers and because it has a certain "cuteness" about it. But of that generation (Xbox, PS2, GC) the Xbox would be my rational choise. But sometimes I want to choose with my heart.

And by that I don't mean I choose GC instead of something, I mean I want a GC as well. :)
#265
Thanks! I can't seem to get in to pcengine.co.uk right now (temporarily down or slow computers at work? hm..) but I'll check them out soon enough.

Last night I sat down with Metal Storm (NES) again, and finished it. Great game (it has been on my wishlist for a year or so and it was worth every day of searching for a deal) but the last boss was a bit disappointing. Today I'm going back to Just Cause 2... *sigh*

I played 1942 when I was 11 or 12 at an arcade in Spain of all places but I didn't care all that much - it was just the only cab they had on the hotel. The first shmup I got a hold of with score-intentions was Strikers 1945 II.

Just Cause 2, Skate 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Monkey Ball and Metal Storm.

Thanks! It's our livingroom so it's not quite devoted fully to games. We have our tv-setup there as well! ;) (We have a big HDTV, a small HDTV and a CRT-TV hooked up next to each other. I want a fourth one I can put in TATE-mode but that'll have to wait..)

Actually I don't REALLY hate sci-fi, I just find it boring (I like bullets and red blood, not lasers and green acid for example) but when I'm being washed with wave after wave of sci-fi-related movies, games and magazines I tend to be more aggressive in my choice of words. :D I love a childrens show called Kenny Starfighter, it's about a "intergalactic spacepolice" who fail at everything - looks like a cheesy cheese, have a hairminator, is best friends with a washing machine, drinks gasoline, says "say what?" after everything as if he never listens and I could go on and on about his greatness.

IMG

So, people started calling me Robin Starfighter and then I switched my first name (Robin) to Starfighter for real and now I'm living the hard intergalactic police-life allthough I'm not particularly fond of neither space nor the police. O:)

Edit: I found a clip where they put together a few of his "what did you say?". <3

I agree. I don't like people buying sealed games as trophies and I don't like people who makes buy-cheap-sell-expensive their living. Games is supposed to be played and appreciated, they're not trophies, they're not money.

Hi geise! Cool, I also like those bands (at least the punk-ones :D) and yes, I already have Sega Saturn. I have *deep breath* NES, SNES, GG, GBC, GBP, GBA, NDS, N64, GC, Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox, 360, Master System, MD (Genesis), Saturn, Dreamcast, Treamcast (!), Fairchild, C64, PC Engine, a few I forgot and a lot of doubles. :) I got both Saturn and PC Engine mostly for the shooters but I can swim in different waters as well!

Off-Topic / Introducing myself
10/20/2010, 09:41 AM
Well, as many of you probably have noticed - I'm a new face here and I haven't really introduced myself properly.

I am a 25 year old guy from Malmö, Sweden who's real name is Starfighter Johansson. I was a total video game-nerd as a kid because I didn't have so much friends and didn't have so many other interests. When I discovered the punk scene at 14 the only things I cared about were alcohol and records so I sold pretty much every game I had to afford booze and 7-inch vinyls. After a few years I picked up an insanely overprized NES for poops and giggles and became addicted again. Since then I have collected games with passion, first off I bought back all the great games I sold, then I went out on a hunt for every game I wanted as a kid but never could afford. And now I'm just getting games I stumble upon that seems good. I don't collect games for the collections sake, I just get games I really want and don't care about complete sets of a consoles game library etc. But the collection is still pretty big (and always growing) with 30+ consoles and 500+ games.

I don't have a favorite console (allthough I'm very fond of my PC Engine right now) but the genres I generally prefer are platform, survival horror, puzzle and shoot 'em up.

I play guitar, bass and have the basics down in drums and the music I play - and listen to - is still punk. The angry stuff, mostly with d-beat in it. I have a thing for body modifications such as piercings, tattoos, scarrification and what have you - allthough I don't have so much of it myself apart from seven tattoos and a few face piercings (I have had them on other places as well but they're all gone today). I hate sports in real life and also in most video games, and I really hate sci-fi. The closest I get to that genre is the occasional shooter with sci-fi-theme. :)

I live in an apartment with my girlfriend and we have been together now for almost four years and the stuff we have in common is video games (yaay), dreadlocks and a kind of anarchistic view on the world, I guess you could say. I don't have a job but I have a "praktik", the translator said "work experience" so it's like.. you know, I work for no pay and instead get experience. At a library - and I love it. I like to organize shelves and input codes into systems.

I probably sound really egocentric talking so much about myself but I have a break at work now and don't have much else to do. :) Pictures of me, my collection and other random stuff is coming when I get home tonight.

You all seem to be cool (and somewhat kind ;)) persons so I'm looking forward to becoming an active part of your forum.

I was wondering about prices as well, but this isn't a natural part of this thread so if someone knows much about prices I'd like to hear about it in PM.

Here's my wanted list as of now: http://www.pcedaisakusen.net/2/41/425/show-wishlist.htm - do you know any of the titles accurate value? I'm gonna do my homework and compare prices on different sites etc, but as we all know prices at.. for example eBay isn't always to be trusted.. :)
#279
Haha, I can understand that. :)

sunteam_paul: I have read it through very careful and checked gameplay now and every game mentioned is now on my list of have to get-games. I'm going to put them in "wishlist" over at pcedaisakusen later today so I don't forget. Thank you very much!
#280
I took a brake from Just Cause 2 yesterday and gave Momotaro(u?) Katsugeki another go. This time I made it to the fire-stage boss but I clearly feel I have to practise more. All these new forgiving games where you almost CAN'T die is making me spoiled and my reflexes jerky.
#281
Asscrap that's a sweet post! =D>
I wish I had the time to read it through right now (I check this forum like every free minute I get and now I just had two of them :)), I feel special and candy and rainbows and everything.

It has to be a liiiiittle "cooler" over there I guess. :) It's like Rockman -> Mega Man. That always baffled me since Mega Drive wasn't cool enough. In Rockmans case, Mega would be much cooler, but in Mega Drives case - Genesis was teh shizzle. Anyway, thank you for clearing that out for me!
#284
What is a turbo chip? You mean like hucards?
#285
I see now that a few of the games mentioned were only released in the US (if I can trust the database over at PCE Daisakusen?), can I play those as well on my japanese coregrafx?
#286
It would be kind of fun since it's my newest console (newest in my collection I mean, obviously) and I want everything to circulate around it. Yeah, I'll dance my way over there on my lunchbreak and check it out.

Quote from: Tatsujin on 10/19/2010, 02:29 AMYour're welcome and don't you forget about to register and add your collection on the unique www.pcedaisakusen.net ;)
I've been a member of several collection-listing-sites before but it never worked out for me. I have plans on building my own little site with pictures and stuff about all my games, I just have to find the time. I am currently working full time (for no pay, mind you) with a videogame videoreview-program series on the side (in swedish so I'm not gonna link it here) and I have recently moved and have all this things I should build, buy and what not. I have a collection of 500+ games as well, so if I'm gonna have front-side-and-back-pictures with additional info about every title it's going to take quite some time to get the site complete. But - it's coming for sure. Someday. :)

Quote from: Colossus1574 on 10/19/2010, 03:47 AMYou mentioned sometimes Driving Games?
Yeah it's like.. they are so boring. Snoozeville deluxe! But sometimes I can't help myself. Super Mario Kart and Dirt 2 are to good examples. I love them, but I shouldn't! :) I'm going to look up Motoroader and S.C.I because they definately doesn't sound like your typical yawning-fest of a driving game. Thanks!
#289
Thank you everyone, I have like 20 must have games now! Just keep 'em coming! :)

I didn't know Don Doko Don were on PC Engine, I've just played it through on some kind of collection for PS2. I loved it so I have to get it! I like cute games like Bubble Bubble (and Rainbow Island for that matter, I have it on Sega Master System) so Parasol Stars is probably going first when I'm getting out on the hunt to enlarge the PCE-collection. Ah, who am I fooling, it'll probably be one of the shooters mentioned in this thread, I have a weakness against them. I have to buy Parasol Image Thunder '90 first.. ^^

Haha, well, that's also a way to look at it. :) It's just that sometimes screenshots and maybe an occasional gameplay-link isn't enough for me, I like to hear more thoughts about what makes the games great and who is a better fit for that job than the very persons that likes them?

Okay so the fighters are as good as out for now, SF2 looks sweet but it's not very interesting for me anymore since I've played it since childhood on so many different platforms (I also have the real deal, arcade). Isn't there any puzzlers on HuCard worth getting, or do you mean there's more on CD (obviously it is, but.. yeah.. I'm just mumbling). You haven't mentioned Cadash yet, but now it's going on my list!
#294
We have the same PS2 controller! :D But my blue one is broken (it can't vibrate) since I threw it in the floor - so now I have a red one. And a few ugly third party (is it the proper translation? something not made by Sony) controllers for friends to use. But anyway. Transparent Dual Shock 2's is todally rad, man. :)
#295
Some really nice games mentioned I see (I checked them out at pc engine software bible since you guys don't seem to motivate your namedrops! ;)). This is awesomesauce!
#296
Tatsujin: I have a few you mentioned, what about the others. Why are they important to have? Why are they that good? :)

Arkhan: Haha, I better like it now! I have never heard of it so anything can happen. To be continued.... ^^
#297
If you're patient I just might be able to buy it next month or so.. I just have to make ends meet and be able to pay the rent right now - but yeah. Eventually I'll have the money. But it all depends on if you're willing to ship to Sweden and what the total price becomes then.
#298
Sweet! I wrote down Soldier Blade (I plan on getting more of the Soldier-games anyway, they seem very nice) but the other two wasn't hucards. Maybe I should've said from the beginning that I have a coregrafx - and even if I'm up for a duo in the future I'll focus on hucards for the time being. :)

Oh, and the games I got now is:

Heavy Unit
Super Star Soldier
Momotaro Katsugeki
Dragon Spirit
R-Type (R-Type I and R-Type II)

So, I recently got my first PC Engine and I have no idea what to get to it. I've seen a few scrambled lists here and there that don't tell me all that much, and the game-library is quite a jungle.. I like shooters (that's the main reason I got it in the first place), platformers, puzzle games, fighters and sometimes racing games. I DON'T like RPGs, simulators (life, love, dating etc) or anything sports related. If you guys don't feel like rambling on about your favorites in mentioned genres maybe there are some competent and accurate lists on the subject you can refer me to? Preferably lists with explanations/pictures of each game. :) Thanks!
