I use to own a few of these back in the day to allow you to use a PC Engine controller on a TG16. I believe it was a female mini din to 8 pin male din adaptor. I looked on monoprice but can not find these. Does anyone know if these are sold online other than ebay?

Besides the obvious, Valis III, does anyone like any American box art better than the Japanese version? I guess we would be comparing manual art technically, since Japanese games have no boxes.

I think Air Zonk art is much better looking than the Japanese Denjin version art. And better huey art as well.

But I honestly can not think of many more. They always screw us in the USA and UK! But there has to be at least a few more.

Received my Turbo Everdrive today. It is just a white screen. A very sad white screen. I tried the following...

Formating the Micro SD to FAT 32
Flipping the region switch
Taking the PCE out of the IFU to cut out some power requirements.

I am running a regular PC Engine, with the IFU, but the CD par is being fixed right now. There is a region modification. Any idea on why it is not working, besides its broken, and if there is something to try? I am going to take this everdrive to my buddies later this week. But it's going to be awhile. Curious if this is a common issue with my model, or with region modifications.

Does anyone else run a everdrive on a region modded briefcase setup?

Any Ideas?

My Ten No Koe Bank was working 2 days ago on my friends Japanese Turbo Duo. I received my briefcase unit today and wanted to load up some old save files and I just can't get this thing to work. It must work on a PC Engine Briefcase Setup because my exact setup is on the front of the manual. The card boots up fine. But after I press run on the title screen I am left with nothing but a black screen. Tried multiple times.

So I pulled the top off this thing and was happy to see it uses a standard cr2032 battery, and there is no corrosion. I haven't soldered a new one in yet because the tabs are weird. I'm going to have to rig something up tomorrow.

I am going to replace the battery now that I have it up. But I am really feeling like maybe my card isn't working because I forget how to use it. I tried pressing other buttons at the title with no evail. Tried with a CD in the console, then no cd in, then with the cd unit turned off. No dice.

Any suggestions?

Just picked up a huge lot from a guy of some sweet Turbo Goodness. Almost all games had manuals but sadly no cases. So I am looking for a few real manuals, real cases, and some custom cases.

What is a fair price to pay for some good cases? I see some on eBay but $15.00 seems pretty steep for a generic case and custom spine label. Here is what I am looking for.

I also have one more question. Is Dead Moon a plastic tray release or does it have a real hard case? Cause I need a case for that one too but prefer original if possible.

Real Manuals:

Jackie Chan
Neutopia
Shockman

Need Real Cases:

Neutopia
Dragon's Curse
Military Madness
Legendary Axe 2
Ninja Spirit
Parasol Stars
Dungeon Explorer
Blazing Lazers
Alien Crush
Side Arms
Galaga 90

Want custom cases:

Jackie Chan
Air Zonk
Neutopia 2
Shockman
Bonk 3
New Adventure Island

Gate of Thunder

Many years ago I posted a thread on here asking what the Arena in Dungeon Explorer II is all about? I originally wrote a FAQ on game faqs for this game I published back in 2004, asking for assistance with no leads whatsoever. Here is a link, and please don't comment on the writing quality of this... I wrote this before my college days....

http://www.gamefaqs.com/turbocd/589273-dungeon-explorer-ii/faqs

So... I am about to get another copy of this game soon. I want to revise my whole FAQ and get it looking good. But I still don't have a Duo-Tap, and only 3 controllers.

Does anyone know what the arena in Dungeon Explorer II, is? If it unlocks any special characters or weapon upgrades? If it is a special Dungeon or PVP Arena? Of if it is just a way for people to input their passwords and get some 5 player action going through the story?

I will give credit as due if anyone has any information. I have looked on youtube, google, bing etc.. and have found nothing of relevance to what the Arena actually is/does.

I was playing some Summer Carnival Nexzr at my buddies last year and we got to talking about Summer Carnival and what exactly it is/was. Because I said "Summer Carnval, was that a real thing"? He mentioned to me that the Summer Carnival was actually a Japanese Festival where a new game was introduced every year and that it was a giant competition. I also vaguely remember him saying something like people either never got to play the game before the festival and competition, or they only had a few weeks to play it to practice.

After researching online I can't find anything related to this, and he has no sort of proof either. But he is very knowledgeable about SHMUPS and I am thinking some if this may actually be true.

I would love some linky's if there are any that go more in depth about what exactly Summer Carnival is.

Just curious what games everyone really wanted, finally purchased after much anticipation and waiting, and was just completely disappointed. I have 2 titles I was just blown away by how bad they were.

First is Beyond Shadowgate. This is one of those games back around 2000 I always wanted to get. It rarely popped up on ebay and I finally scored one. complete with the poster. I played through the whole game after receiving it withing a few days. Beyond Shadowgate has a weird place in my mind when I think about it. I just can't decide if it's garbage, or just a regular bad game. But one thing is certain there are much better games to be had on the Turbo and this is mediocre at best. Sure some people will disagree. Beyond Shadowgate does have this weird appeal. You think it's bad, but for some reason just have to finish it. Then you do and have no idea what to think about it. It's kind of like Bud Light. Pretty watered down with no flavor. But for some reason you always give it a taste if you have the chance, but never really want to spend money on it.

My second choice. I am saving the best for last, is Exile: Wicked Phenomenon. Even in the early 2000's this game was incredibly hard to find on eBay. Even the guy who sold me pretty much every rare english turbo game back then didn't have this one. I waited what seemed like forever to play Exile: Wicked Phenomenon. I finally did find one on ebay after a very long time of checking daily. I ended up paying more for it than I did magical chase and dynastic hero back then. I was blown away by Exile 2. Not by how amazing it was. But by how unplayable it was. I remember forcing myself through the game. It was so hard. And not in a good way. But in a way because of bad programming. I was really disgusted how much better the original was. I seriously hate Exile 2. I would go as far as to say  would have to think long and hard if someone offered me money just to play it. I really feel like playing Exile 2 was the point in my collecting history that I decided it was pointless and a waste of money to keep a hold of crap games. No matter how rare. Since then I have weeded down my collection considerably. So in a way I guess I am thankful to Exile 2.

Do you all have any good stories about disappointing, highly anticipated Turbo purchases?

I mentioned to another person interested in Camp California that I would be receiving a copy in a few days along with Lords of Thunder, and Vasteel. I woke up to quite a few PM's asking for Camp California. So I am assuming it is pretty sought after. A quick eBay search listed no current auctions and 2 completed at $169.99 each. i know it's probably not worth that much with ebay and paypal fees taken into account, + general lower forum prices. But I am curious what a fair forum price is on these 3 titles? I will be posting pics back here hopefully before the weekend and be ready to trade or sell these suckers as I have no need for Camp California and Vasteel, and already own Lords of Thunder. I am asking for general prices for games in well taken care of condition, and complete, if I were to sell or trade. Here is what I am figuring. It's really hard to tell with all the eBay impulse purchases on Turbo Stuff.

Lords of Thunder - English - complete $70.00 shipped
Camp California - English - Complete $150.00 shipped
Vasteel - English - Complete with both inserts - but missing slip case. $110.00 shipped

Are those prices fair, low, or high?

Here is a small list of my wants. I'll probably take, and even prefer Japanese on most this stuff unless noted.

As the title states. Want a region modded, S-Video modded, recapped Duo-R, or RX. A regular old Japanese duo will suffice if that's all I can find.

My choice is easy. Dynastic hero. It is my third favorite Action/RPG of all time next to Landstalker and Secret of Mana. I have a long history with the Wonderboy games. Played Adventure Island growing up and Wonder Boy in Monster Land on SMS. Wonder Boy in Monster World was my favorite Genesis game in the early history of the console. I played the heck out of that game. When I first started collecting Turbo Grafx in 1998 I picked up a English copy of Dynastic Hero which even back then cost me I think a little over $100.00 from a private collector. It was incredibly hard to find back then. I waited 6 months checking eBay every day and lucked out cause my friend had connections with a turbo collector/modder.

The only downside to Dynastic Hero is that it is so much easier that the genesis version. But is has excellent music, amazing graphics, and is just plain fun!

I love all the other games listed too. But I realize Nintendo isn't the holy grail of video game design, or originality for that matter.

Just what the title says. Must have console, power supply, and AV cables. I really prefer a modded one with region switch.

I wrote a FAQ on Dungeon Explorer II quite a few years ago that I would like to finish. Problem is I don't think I will ever have enough people around to figure out what the Arena is all about. It looks like you need 5 people to try it out. I always assumed it was either some form of PVP or a bonus dungeon. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated, and I would be more than happy to give you credit on my FAQ when I decide to update it. Thanks!

Not that Legendary Axe 2 crap. The original. Don't know why, but I really like this game alot. Maybe because it's challenging, or maybe cause I really like the soundtrack. I think it is a solid addition to the PC Engine library. Anyone else really like this game?

Started playing Exile Wicked Phenomenon about a week ago. It hasn't been too hard... until the other day. I'm pretty close to the end. One level from the last level. Apparentely you get to level 1-16 in about 30,000 exp. And to get level 17 you need 65,000 experience. Kinda bullshit. Anyway, i'm at Baghdad, and there's this palace I have to go through to fight this Djinn fellow. This place sucks. I bought 16 Peyote (the max), but that isn't enough healing to make it through the level and past that guy. I'm contemplating whether to try and kill over 400 of these stupid harpee ladies and devil guys that give a mere 55 exp, to level up to 17. But I still don't know if that will be enough to beat this stage. And I don't want to even get into these stupid Dragons. I guess there invincible, and the only way to hurt them is to run into them and take damage, which makes me use up all my Peyote. Has anyone beat this stage? I could use some tips. Should I try and beat it now and level up later? Or is it pretty much mandatory to get to the final exp level to beat the stage? I guess quitting and chucking the disc is always a option. I feel at this point i'm better off playing some Ghost's n' Goblins. At least I can beat that game.

I think it's cool that there is a forums about the PC systems but I have yet to find a site completely dedicated to archiving manuals, inserts, flyers, Turbo grafx/PCEngine magazines, and any other turbo stuff that has been lost. It is already hard enough to find alot of these games. I think this website would be a good place to start making a archive of everything turbo. From game screenshots, manual scans, back insert scans, cd scans, to a complete databe of codes for TG16 and PCEngine games.

I have been a huge turbo fan for many years now and I hate to see this material lost. I think that if there are still people roaming around here we need to get a project started and keep the turbo stuff that can be saved avaible to everyone on the internet....before it's lost for good.
