Order of the Griffon help? Stuck

I got the staff from the Den of Wolves, then went to the main town and joined the order of the griffon was told to use the staff at Koriszegy. When I go there there is a painting and 3 doors W, N, E. I use the staff on the painting but am unable to enter any door. I move slightly enough to sort of clip through the door but never go through.

I'm too retarded to remember the specifics on my own, so gamefaqs to the rescue! -

The path to Koriszegy Crypt is simple enough. You need to follow it as it turns W and then NW and you may have a few encounters along the way, but they shouldn't trip you up too much.

You need the Staff of Life to get anywhere here. It opens up the north door.  Then you need to touch the staff in the red pool(changes it to red) to get behind the red door(on the west) and then the blue pool(changes it to blue)
to get behind the blue door(on the east). The staff icon on your screen will change accordingly.

I spent many hours mapping the dungeons in that game about 10 years ago. I entered them into spreadsheets so I would have some decent looking maps for future use. I can email them to you (or anyone else) if you'd like them. Just PM me with your email address if interested.

just started playing this one.  having a tough time in battles.  any tips on making the best party?

I thought it might be the version i was playing and downloaded another rom, still have the same issue. 

I definitely have the staff as it shows on my screen and am blocked when I try to go back to the den of wolves now.
