2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Quote from: esteban on 01/04/2017, 06:56 AMCobra Command (NES) was a tough game to beat. You have to be really careful underground (don't crash into walls) and if you sustained damage, you had a *slight* chance of surviving if you had skills (damaged copter was challenging to control). On the rare chance I made it to the end, I would choke. I died quickly and didn't have any time to develop a strategy for last boss.
Oh, now that brings back memories.
I actually did manage to beat the game (the last stage required some pseudo slow-mo).
Initially I hated the game...it takes a while to come to grips with the control and figuring out some of the goals that are not very well explained.

This is one of those games, much like Milon's Secret Castle, where you needed some sort of 'how to' tutorial in order to get started properly.  There were unexplained goals and some weird backtracking required in order to make any headway.

I downloaded it and gave it a try.
Seems ok so I forked out the $10 for the full version.

My user name is Jet Jaguar if anyone wants to share

That's good to know!

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 12/06/2016, 11:20 AMAnd it seems Korg used HuCards as dataroms at one point!

Actually, wasn't there a precursor to the HuCard (the BeeCard or somesuch)?  Maybe Korg just used that instead.

Strangely enough, the CD-ROM2 is a black model.
Methinks that maybe NEC had extra unsold stock of TG-16 CD ROM units and found a way to unload them here.

Does an OBI exist for Fighting Street?
If yes, does anyone have a pic (or have a spare for sale)?

I've been searching high and low for this elusive item and have yet to see a copy on eBay and the like with one included.

It wouldn't be the holiday shopping season without some sort of hard-to-find toy.
I guess this will be the 2016 equivalent of the FURBY

Anyone with a job title of "Change Agent" or "VP of Transformation" or something similar.

These dummies have no clue about the realities of the organization that they're trying to 'change' and simply come up with ideas that sound good on paper, but realistically don't work.

I do recall last year around Halloween, BK offered the Whopper with a BLACK BUN and A1 sauce.
The bun was just colored with dyes, but the A1 sauce added an interesting dynamic to the sandwich.

I have no real answer.
Some days I prefer a Whopper.  Other days I prefer the Big Mac.
Depends on the occasion.

Quote from: Digi.k on 10/26/2016, 08:55 AMAhem yes I know this is an old thread but SuperGrafx did you trade in your original xbone for the new one?
No I haven't traded up yet.
But I may around the holidays.  Besides I love the new white color scheme...always been a fan of white/beige electronics.

Pretty neat how closely the PCE Briefcase matches the new XB1 form factor.

Quote from: Digi.k on 10/23/2016, 04:20 PMHas one of the deepest and most relaxing games ever created.

Animal Crossing New Leaf.  Been playing this daily for a few good years.
Agreed there, though I wish you could skip through some of the text and cinemas (like when you take the boat to the island, etc)

BTW, where did you get that 30 year pin?

Man, I've been hunting around for a brand new copy of ULTIMATE NES REMIX for my 3DS, so I figured I'd check out a few area stores instead of going the usual online route.

Wow.  When did the selection of physical 3DS games become so paltry?
I checked Target, Best Buy, Gamestop and a few other area shops and they all seem to have the same old selection -- those $19 "Nintendo Selects" titles, a few killer app titles like Mario and Zelda, and Pokémon, Pokémon and even more Pokémon.

Did something change these last few months or is Nintendo cutting back on shipping physical games to shops?

Quote from: guest on 10/20/2016, 11:00 AMI don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty pumped. Looks like it'll have some better 3rd party support with shit like Skyrim.

Looks somewhat WiiU backwards compatible. Rerelease on cartridge/SD card? Actual discs??
I'm with you.
I was skeptical at first, but this thing just seems like an obvious solution for the modern gamer.
I may take the plunge.

I got that new Target exclusive Super Mario 3D World "New" Nintendo 3DS console bundle.
I love the white color and Super Fami style buttons on this unit.
Plus it's smaller and less bulky than the XL

For $149, you cannot go wrong!
#69
So very sorry to hear that.
#70
So anyways -- anyone have a complete set for sale?
#71
I'm looking for a copy complete (with manual and obi/spinecard).
Yes I can go the EBay route but I figured I would check here first.

Let me know please!

When you're at Chipotle and you have that one person in line who is ordering 10 burritos for their family or friends.
Talk about slowing down the line.

I saved up money for months and months to purchase a Grand Prix (Kmart) b/w mini TV!

I dropped it the third time I used it...it never worked again.

Since I wasn't allowed to have my own TV...I was unable to return it to the store for a refund.

It was such an awesome little TV.
Wow, talk about a flashback!  I remember those "Grand Prix" branded TV's and radios back in the day.  They had them at Kmart as well as a regional dept store called AMES.

As for my biggest disappointment, I'd have to say IKARI WARRIORS 2: VICTORY ROAD on the NES.  What I expected after playing the arcade version, and what was actually delivered in terms of a final product scarred me for life.  Such a soul-destroying disappointment to say the least.  I honestly felt bad that I begged my parents to spend the $$ to buy it.

I've never been very good at these types of 'find the hidden object' photos.
Can someone give me a clue as to where this feline has hidden itself?

This is the best gaming news I've heard in a long time.
Totally stoked and planning to buy one on launch

While I'm just a wretched noob, I do have great things to say about Nulltard.

Funny and interesting personality.

And hey, he once purchased some ultra common DS games from me, with the stipulation that I provide a hand-drawn picture of RICHARD SIMMONS along with the games.  LOL!!
#79
You don't happen to have a LYNX console that you don't need, do you?
#80
I bought a JPN Dreamcast Console so I could play Shenmue without a boot disc, mod or any other sort of system hackery.
#81
I got a new mouse:  Logitech M705

Actually it was paid for by my company.  But I like it just the same.
#82
I must be the only person on this forum who has NEVER once played any POKEMON game.
Never saw the appeal.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind a spare.
The one I currently have in my collection is getting flakey upon startup.
#84
I'm a stickler for unmodded and untampered consoles.
I prefer the experience to be as close to stock as possible.  It's more pure that way.
#85
Is a controller included with the SuperGrafx set?

TED Talks

What's the deal with the exaggerated hand gestures that the majority of these so-called presenters use?  It's like they're trying to act like Steve Jobs or something.

Looking for a complete Atari 7800 (NTSC) system.  Should include 2 controllers, hookups, and a game or two.

Additionally, I am after an Atari Lynx in good cosmetic and working condition.
Prefer the original Lynx 1, but I'll take either at this point.

General Gaming / Re: Do you like the 32X?

I bought one back in the day when they started packing in a copy of Doom with the unit.
I really wanted to play DOOM back then and a $2,000 PC just wasn't in the cards, so I was quite pleased with how the console port turned out.

Virtua Racing Deluxe is also well worth your time.  Very well done game.  The rest, not so much.

Second only to that bizarre Cybermorph review haha.

What are you interested in for trades?

Quote from: guest on 02/29/2016, 03:19 PMNah.  Most old timers agree with Zeta's cranky rants (to some degree anyway) or at least find them humorous.

While not against the rules, obviously, such threads as this really aren't worth much, but the only time they bother me is when the OP just posts a link and can't be bothered to comment themselves.  As little entertainment as yet another internet know-it-all written article/video provides, it's still 10x more entertaining than some noob begging for us to hook him up with dealz, asking what the difference is between an Arcade Card Duo and an Arcade Card Pro, etc.
Agreed.
While I'm but a wretched noob, I do find a lot of truths in Zeta's well constructed posts.
I liken him to Donald Trump in some ways -- he's not afraid to say things that many of us are too bashful to say.  And that's a good thing.
#96
I'm really not surprised at this point.

While I don't know much about this Mike Kennedy fellow, I will say that he would be more at home at a neighborhood bar in Boston than being a figurehead of a retro console revival.
He looks like some kind of Irish-American drunkard.
