Title: which (TG16 & PCE) shumps are 2-player?
Post by: GameFreak on 07/06/2011, 11:28 PM
What are (TG16 or PCE) some good 2-player shmup games that are similar to Dragon Spirit where both players are on screen at same time??

I suck so bad at shmups I need help... ](*,) DragonSpirit is the only one in my collection that is 2 player.

It would be good to know which games are 2 player including PCE version.

I'd recommend the ones BlueBMW suggested.  Ordyne is cool.  I haven't played 1941 for the SGX.  Psychic Storm looks neat as well.

As far as US ones go, the only two I can think of are Aero Blasters and if you count it as a Shmup Monster Lair.

1943 ain't bad, especially if one of the players sucks (continue forever).

Don't forget the super sexy Ai Cho Aniki, where you can share the 'protein' with a friend; and there's Legion too, though it's rather meh.

Speaking of Cho Aniki, it made #4 on this list.

Raiden.  It's a bit odd playing it in a horizontal format.  Not bad at all, just... odd.

The original Raiden used a vertical format.  The screen was taller, and not as wide, so you could see the enemies earlier, and it didn't seem like you had as much left to right movement to worry about.   This, of course, was the arcade version.   PRetty much all of my Raiden playtime has been with the arcade machines, Mame, or Raiden III, IV, and Fighters on PS2 and 360 conroles.  All of these have the vertical format as well.  The TurboGrafx version is not, so it feels a bit odd to me.  Still great though, in my opinion

It's also not a 2-player game.

Well.... that's embarrassing.

As much as I've played it, I never noticed that the Blue Plane didn't make the cut.

[OT]yeah, raiden is a great port on the pce, especially considering its release time. in some ways it also controls very smooth, tho a little bit of a speed up (of the ship) would have been great.[/OT]

Burning Angels...

But your friend can't afford to suck on this game either.

Die one time and it's game over.

And I mean GAME OVER!

Shockman has horizontal shooter (sub?) levels (both players still share the same life bar, one player's charge shot and super-charge the other player's charge shot in these levels as well.).

I'm trying to remember if the other two Shubinbinman games have shooter levels?
