Thanks for posting that video. I'd never even seen screenshots of this before now.
Makes me feel a lot better, too, knowing that I won't have to pay the big bucks to pick this one up. Doesn't really look interesting at all.
looks nice. you can see the pce graphics at their finest. back then that was the state of the art!
Why is this a LaserActive game? If not, I'd edit off the beginning that shows the LaserActive BIOS screen as it is a bit misleading.
Title is SCD

Yeah, it's a Super CD. I'm guessing SuperD just video captured it from his laseractive.

Been playing through it, nothing really special at all about the graphics. They're only average, really.

Was gonna say, just judging purely by the video, there's absolutely nothing impressive at all about the visuals that I can see.
The whole thing appears rather drab.

Agree with you on this. At first I was all bummed that there was another LA game that I needed to get that I never heard of.
Do you happen to know what was used to rip the game? Is this the one from Underground Gamer?
I use the LA cause it's my primary PCE/MD now. Also the dual video output makes recording games off it a breeze.
And edit videos? Please I never edit ever.
Thanks for the share! :)
Interesting. Thank you for sharing!
The graphics and production may not be that special, but the sheer amount of effort that must have been required to draw up and animate all the cutscene art is fairly impressive for a game that couldn't have made any money.

It makes some big money, now.. sometimes.. :)
For an educational title, that actually looks kinda fun. Thanks for sharing.
This game definitely has above average cinemas. Not technology-wise, but just art-wise. They guy (or lady) can actually draw.
There are also more frames where there normally wouldn't be in other games meaning that they did more than just copy the outsourced image/line art reference pages, which is all that gets done with most games, from what I can see.

OK then start recording AFTER the LaserActive screen goes away. Very misleading. Not sure why anyone on the planet would be anti-editing.
It's like zooming in on the "SEGA GENESIS" logo on a Genesis while loading an SMS game into a Power Base Converter that you plan on recording footage of.
I care less about the boot screen and more that "Akiyama Jin No Suugaku Mistery" doesn't appear in the thread title or initial post. Fuck the search function!

No, it isn't. The LA is just another PCE. The intent of the LA wasn't that it
only play LDROM games. You're not supposed to unhook it, put it on a closet, and pull out a Duo to play all your Super CDs. The LA plays all (non-SGX) PCE games so why not use it as your main system if you have it?
The prevailing anti-LA stance is just fucking weird. You make it sound like what he did was somehow dishonest. If he made a video where you could see Kato and Ken running in a SGX nobody would complain that they were being mislead into thinking K&K was a SGX title. If you assumed this was a LA game, then that's your problem. Nobody claimed it was.
Seriously, you're nuts. Did the LA's chief engineer touch you as a child or something? WTF?
As for the editing thing, I don't think he's anti-editing, I just thing he's lazy. Watching this video and others though I'm come to learn that the content is worth the (considerable) wait.
Yes I'm mostly lazy. :) But also lack of good software, HDD space, and mostly time. Editing takes a LOT of time, which I don't have. I used to make vids with a crappy digital camera and everyone whined about the quality. I upgraded to 480p, and now people whine that my vids aren't HD... People are never satisfied, no point in wasting time editing. I'm not a film-maker, I'm a gamer that likes to share his finds. Anyone that follows my vids knows that I rarely film sober. My best works have all been 100% improv. I play, record it, upload it, and move on.
If video editing takes "a LOT" of time then you are doing it wrong. Cutting the dead air out with iMovie or Windows Movie Maker (both good enough to do the job, both free) takes about %10 longer than it did to shoot the video itself.
So, I guess if you are so pressed for time that you can't even watch the movie after shooting it, then yeah, it would be too time consuming.
HDD space is a big issue for one. I have a lappy from 06 and its dieing.
And again, when your drunk you really don't care about perfection. :)

Haha, I wasn't even the one that complained about the LA startup screen if you go back and look. I was being facetious in light of Joe's well-known predilection for SEGA.

LOL j/k?
at least 293'704 software craches included.
