Title: Hello!
Post by: UglyJoe on 09/21/2011, 09:46 PM
Didn't see an "introductions" thread, so I figured I'd make a thread for myself.

I go by Ugly Joe.  I'm the admin over at Famicom World.  I've had a passing interest with the PC Engine for a while now, but I'm just starting to get into it.  I bought a HuCard lot (https://web.archive.org/web/20190511081730im_/https://i.imgur.com/UnfnC.jpg) over at FW, so now I'm on the lookout for a console to play them on.  I managed to fry two Famicoms before I was finally able to play FC games, so I'm hoping to absorb enough info from here to avoid any PC Engine casualties.

Ugh, I suck at intro posts.  Nice to meet you all!

welcome

we dont fry consoles, but we do fix-em.

we also offer region mods to use jap hardware on us games and us hardware on jap games.

so have fun looking for a console and remember even if it doesnt work, most of the time it can be fixed.

We would need pics to decide who the ugliest Joe really is.  Our Joe is pretty ugly, so maybe you should change your name to uglierJoe...

Welcome! I like the FW website, but it hasn't seemed to help me on my Twin Fami issues. Those disc drives are a pain!

The best FDS repair guide that I'm aware of is over at FamicomDiskSystem.com (http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/tutorials/fds-repair-mod/belt-replacement-adjustment/).  The drive in the Twin is the same as the drive in a plain old FDS, so the guide does apply.  The drives are a huge pain in general, though.  I was sure to buy mine "guaranteed working" from a trusted forum member.
