Title: These look like Duo cables but...
Post by: DragonmasterDan on 10/28/2011, 09:36 AM
Read the description, are these simply mislabeled cables similar to those at monoprice? Or are these TG16 cables?

They're the wrong color for legit cables (NEC), but the pin layout is correct for a full size DIN-8 connector.  Nice find and a dang nice price, except for the six buck shipping if you only want one.

I am sure that you can use one of the Apple II cables as Turbo Grafx Controller extension cables.  Think it may be one of the printer cables. (Wonder if the one bestprice has)

Will have a dig around as I should still have the link to the info.

Apple II/Mac cables are the right mini-DIN form factor, but the standard Apple II/Mac printer cable is male-to-male. That's not going to be of much use as an extension cable considering the Duo controller cable end is male as well.

I know that a standard Apple II Printer cable is M-M that is why I did not provide a link in my original post.  However  there is defiantly a Mac cable that fits as it has been discussed previously, may have been a printer ext. cable ??????

Will keep looking for the info as I am sure that it has been on here at some point

You two are talking about mini DIN-8 cables (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10215&cs_id=1021501&p_id=534&seq=1&format=2), no?  The ones linked by Dan are full size DIN-8 cables.

Great find.  I'm very tempted to pick a few up.  Of course, then I'd need to pick up more TG-16 controllers... :)
