Title: Slightly different repair problem
Post by: jayamine on 02/27/2012, 06:39 PM
My friend's Sega CDX died last week. Anyone here know how to open those little guys and find out what's wrong?

Already opened it and found one dead Capacitor. Changed it and still dead. The system died when he tried to run it (against my advice) with a Genny model 2 power supply.

Anyway, he's willing to mail it off, and pay, etc. So PM me if you can help.

Thanks
Joe

Quite common for the fuses to blow in them, especially when a PSU with incorrect polarity is plugged in. Hopefully no further damage was done.

if its got a 7805 regulator in it everything beyond it would be protected.

Can anyone do the repair job? Or can anyone post a graphic of the board with instructions, etc? Might have to mail the system off to someone.

If its just a fuse it is a super easy fix, even i could do it for you, if you wanted to cover shipping both ways.

Does it require soldering? My friend wants to mail it off to you. He'll pay for everything.  Can you PM me so I can put you two in touch?
