stumbled upon this today and figured some of you guys would be interested in it. Vic (former pres of WD) has a kickstarter to help fund a better localization of class of heroes 2

It's not a better localization as this was never released in the US...so this statement is a tad misleading:
"That means the Kickstarter project isn't for a Class of Heroes 2 translation, but rather for an improved translation and a physical, packaged release for the game."
I don't know if I like the idea of this whole kickstarter thing, so you can pay $1000 or more to get more exclusive gaming stuff? might as well be ebay in my opinion.

They said that the game is being brought over, but Vic Ireland wants money to give it a translation he thinks will be better than it's already getting. If this kickstarter thing completely fails, it should still come out in English minus the "Working Designs 2.0" treatment.
now this kickstarter thing is officially getting out of fucking hand.
Basically the kickstarter is a way of direct selling the game to the public to avoid going through the traditional retail channels. If the funding were to go through, By donating 59 dollars or more, you'll receive a physical deluxe edition version of the game, otherwise the game will be released in digital download format only.
I like the idea of a kickstarter it give developer financial security on a game that they may not want to take the chance to put out. The Class of hero kickstarter doesn't seem ridiculous to me. Vic is trying to make a physical copy of a game that would be downloadable.

IMO it makes it sound like "we'll half ass it unless we get the $ to do a GOOD job" on the translation. Seeing as it's very unlikelyto hit the goal, the physical release seems dead already. :\
I have no problem with preorders, but come on if you donate 500 or 1000 you get a more limited edition of a game, sure you're funding a project but essentially you are paying that much for a psp game, which will technically be a different edition of the same $59 game, multiple levels of limited, deluxe edition, whatever you want to call it, and be insanely overinflated in price in the secondary market for those higher price tiered versions. I just don't like the idea of that personally.

Blame Tim Schafer he had sucess with it and now every body does.
What kind of person would actually want Vic's stupid fucking jokes and gameplay hacks, and does this person also own every episode of Mind of Mencia on DVD?
WD was great when there were no alternatives, but now that nearly every RPG gets translated anyway, I just don't see the point.

Done and done
I went ahead & ordered. I don't have the first game, guess I'll have to track that down for a relatively cheap price if possible.
I got the e-mail earlier i know i'll order asap.
