Title: Hi guys.
Post by: juggernaut on 04/29/2012, 01:53 AM
Damn.. Time flies.
My last post was in 2008. My children has grown bigger now, and now i want to rejoin the PCE scene.

One of my friends is looking for a Duo, and i thought: been there, done that. Used to have a Core Grafx II, Supergrafx and a Duo-R. What could possibly be so cool about that machine? Well, i thought about it last evening and the idea grew on me. Actually so much that i now want one myself... Which one is the question at the moment. IMO the Core Grafx is the most beautiful console of all time, but the lack of playing cd's makes it a no-go right now. So the solution must be a Duo-R.
Anyways.. Just wanted to say hi  :P

Like i wrote, a Duo-R  8)

EDIT: You were referring to the Core Grafx setup and then a cd-unit? How much should i expect to pay for that unit?

Hey Soop.
For the price of a cd unit, i could just as well buy a Duo-R. A boxed one on the bay goes for $240.

Hmm.. Might as well go through SMJ to see if im lucky.

Welcome back!

I would post a WTB thread in the PC Engine Sales Forum for a Duo-R and see what happens. :)

I really like the Core Grafx consoles too. They are just too damn sexy. The DUO systems are OK but nowhere nears cool as the CG systems in my opinion. I suggestion getting a CG then picking up a Super CD system for it (best option for the CGII setup) or a briefcase unit. They aren't THAT much more then a DUO if you look around.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Im not really sure yet which way to go. Still considering a Core Grafx + cd setup, Super Grafx + cd setup or a Duo.

The Duo-R is your best bet for cost effectiveness and reliability!

Is the machine more reliable than the Super Cdrom?

Yes, the Super CD-ROM has fairly common audio issues.

Welcome back!  I love my Super CDrom2. It just feels cool to be using the system in the modular way it was designed.

I have a matching CoreGrafx II, but I have to say, I kinda like the contrast between the original white PCE and the grey SCD.

Plus, it emphasizes the evolution and flexibility of the hardware... RF ONLY white PCE meets kompozit moderne for cleaner video. :pcgs:

It is SO boss.  Remember the first time you saw one?  So much better than the Mega CD, and so much better designed.
I wanted one since the first moment I saw one, and CHECK IT OUT, I now OWN one!  (And a Super Grafx).

I could plug my SGX into my SCD, but I just love the Core II with it so much, I use that and have them both set up.
