So my friend was fixing his FrankenDuo (long story system has been through hell and back). While doing that he lost a part and I was wondering if anyone could take a picture of the part.
Quotelaser replaced - duo nice [:)]
i just wish i didn't loose the little bit that holds the magnet for the spindle [:(]
i need a photo of it or something so I can build a replacement

Might be a little tricky to find just that magnet retainer... why not swap the spindle table for a self locking one thereby eliminating the need for the magnet.
good question I'll ask him that. He is located in canada anyone happen to have a spare holder ?
A magnet for the CD spindle? Is that was you are asking about? You should be able to find something that would work in an old portable CD player. I use a spare magnet from a standard black TG16 CD drive on Duos when I am testing them.
okay I misunderstood him.
"it's not the magnet i need it's the plastic circle that holds the magnet to the lid"
OH that sucks. I don't have any spares right now. Maybe someone else here has a broken duo where they could sell your friend the part for cheap.
Ill check, I actually might have one.
cool BlueBMW, my friend has registered for this forum just waiting for the activation/approval step. Hopefully he will get accepted today and can chime in.
okay he is still waiting for the account approval his username is Damainman69. hopefully he will be able to join in soon :)
Havent found it yet, but I know I had a DuoR that I basically parted out (the shell was totally trashed) so somewhere I've got that ring, just need to find it.
cool thanks for taking the time to look for it, even if you haven't found it yet that is a very nice thing to do for someone. :D
Hey hey!
Thanks for the help and thanks for tracking down that piece for me guys! I'm looking foward to getting this old beast back into 100% working order. Somewhere in moving a million times over the past 10 years I finally lost that little circle that holds the disc clamp to the lid. I swear I've seen it recently but it's probably a trick of the mind ;)
Anyhow - I'm in the process of sanding down the shell - I've rebuilt a few parts that were torn apart by a drunken, angry hammer. It's going to get get some flowery 80's/90's air brush treatment (pink and white LOL) in the end. I've got one piece inside that still needs a bit of attention. The bit that holds the lid spring in place is detached partially lifting the lid up by about 1mm on the right hand side, and I imagine that little bit would effect the disc spinning once the missing lid piece is replaced.
The guts are working 100% now and that's all I really care about - new laser, new caps and some bits just resoldered.
Again thanks!! Can't wait to see this thing back to the way it once was and then some!

Hey there, I see your account was activated.
This is my friend that was looking for the part.
