Title: eBay: Microvision + 3 Games. Working, Clean.
Post by: jasonbar on 07/03/2012, 12:52 PM
Howdy-

I'm selling a working Microvision & 3 games: Blockbuster, Phaser Strike, & Pinball.

It's the first handheld console to use interchangeable cartridges, released by Milton Bradley, and it was designed by Jay Smith, who later designed the Vectrex.

Thanks,

I had one of these thing around the house growing up. Wonder what happened to it!

I must find out more about Phaser Strike.

Seriously.

Otherwise: I never had a chance to use Microvision. I don't think I even saw one at the garage sales I frequented with my parents back in the day (early 80's).

I know a guy who is selling one at a local flea market, but is asking $30 just for the system and the included game in box. Wasn't able to mess with it, so I don't know what the games are like.

They are kind of like those Tiger LCD games but instead of having all of these little shapes they have blocky pixels instead. They are pretty cool and worked well as far as I remember. Definitely more of a collector item than something you'd play all the time, but if I remember correctly the batteries lasted pretty long! Takes two 9-volt batteries.

More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microvision

The first rev used 2 9V batteries & they could be mis-inserted & heat up & explode! The rev that I'm selling takes 1 9V battery & has room for a spare in the compartment next to it. When they revved the electronics, they kept the same plastic parts.

Thanks,
-Jason

Cool, didn't know that. Can't remember which version we had when I was a kid.
