What in the hell is up with the huge amount of asshats we have had join recently.  If it isn't someone trying to gouge, its someone trying to get something for nothing, and then turn around and sell for a premium.  Now today, we have a newbie crying the blues because they don't like certain words being used??  Seriously??  Where are these folks coming from?

Another thing.  The whole having a post requirement to get certain deals is not a bad thing.  It is to keep the generous members from giving stuff out, just to have it sold.  Having a post count, or someone vouch for you, proves that you actually want the item in question and dont see dollar signs.  Basically, hang in there.  I had to go through the same shit, but it does not take long to prove yourself.

Make a blacklist :)

I propose all new member have to post a game clear screenshot within the first two weeks or 20 posts!

My two cents..  Dude, I think you are maybe just a little too sensitive.   :wink:  Dont take some of the posts so seriously.  That Bomberman cover thread for example...it shouldnt have been taken to heart.  I honestly think you bring a lot to the table for these forums.  You join in discussions, voice your opinions, ect..  Just lighten up a little, thats all.  Out of most of the new guys coming in recently, you stand out as one that will stick around and be a part of the community.  There are others, that just wont for one reason or another.  So, just take a breath, and laugh it up man.  We are all fairly good people here.  Shit, look at all the mess we give away on a regular basis. :o

Some people are latent abdicrats. They feel that they and everyone else can't be trusted with their own free will so they seek order. They want moderators, police, fathers, whatever.

It's not that the place has no mods, it's that they aren't going to go and ban people just because someone said "fuck". Anyone who survived the usenet days would laugh and the order you seem to crave.

There is a thread here about this year's mass shooting. I haven't clicked on it once because I know that is HAS to be full of some extremely ignorant shit that would drive me crazy. I know I can't take it so I avoided it.

What if we were all together in the same room and the conversation moved in a direction you didn't like, or someone used a bad word like "donkey puncher"? Would you look for the appointed moderator to tell people to stop beig naughty? Would you call the cops? Of course not, you'd either learn to live with it or leave. That's what we do here.

It's true that the grumpy old men here scare away 9/10 noobs, but that one guy who stays is the only one we want to hang around with anyway. Not too long ago that guy was Bernie. In his day there were 9 other guys who probably don't even collect Turbo anymore and probably either dead by their own hand or in jail/mental institution. Fuck them.

You have no idea whats going to be posted daily. It will never be cut and dry. Concerning your " nieces and nephews" and what they view, maybe you should let their parents do the parenting. I'm new also but been around since 2009 just dont remember what my name was back then as i stopped coming around after my rx stopped working and had some irl stuff to go through well its fixed now and I came back here. Was in talks with red_ghost and nathan burnside dont know his forum name back then about fixing my rx as i have no technical expertise.

I have a suggestion if you don't want people trading or buying and then reselling for money that they take pictures of their stuff and put some kind of code in the picture so they cant just put anyone's game room pics. Some kind of code the forum gives each member when they sign up that's linked to their forum account. Would that appease the older members at all? Just spit balling here.

As others have mentioned, this place is one of the most laid back, helpful, and smoothly self-moderated forums on the net. I mean, look at the amount of awesome stuff that is raffled off here every day! People GIVE AWAY to random forum members what most people would hawk on eBay. Even if I completely lost interest in the PCE/TG16 I'd probably still post/lurk here just for all the good discussion, info, and mature forum members.

If you manage to piss people off here, there's a very good chance you are either a scammer/gouger or douchebag. Just accept it or leave! No one's gonna miss you.

I hate cussing, always have.  I do sometimes fly off the handle & drop a bomb when I'm super pissed off, mainly when I'm driving(which is 1 of the reason I prefer to be a passenger, I get too angry & paranoid on the road), or maybe playing a frusterating game.  I think I have become somewhat used to cussing on these forums compared to other forums.  Either way, I think I've just learned to put up with it, even though I hate it.  It's everywhere, but it's more important to me personally that I don't cuss.  Otherwise, it's out of my hands, & I just do the best I can to avoid it.  Ofcoarse, alot of modern games have tons of cussing, I wish there was a feature to turn it off.  Better yet, I wish there was a feature that would turn the cuss words into ridiculous sounds or different words.  Like in the TV version of Friday, they say "Forget you!"  I always get a kick out of it when words have been replaced, unless it's with beeps, then it's just plain annoying.

The best way to avoid profanity in modern games is to just not play those pieces of shit in the first place. I'd say Storino's got another two weeks left in him. He doesn't seem to be a total scumbag/gouger, but the constant chappy responses are all too similar to other attention-whore knuckleheads like King of Games and Royveg. So apparently no one can no longer ask questions, Ask what Turbob means. Because adding a b at the end makes it a verb now. Can no longer ask what Obey is (and forget about the dictionary meaning, this forum uses it differently--who knew?), ask who Nintega is/was, etc. That's the purpose of a forum. Obviously there is a search function. Does 95% of people use it? No. Instead of making snide comments like "Oh you should know what this or that means!" or "How dare you for asking, etc", you guys/gals could have just simply answered what it was.

If everyone is this hostile when asking honest questions, I hate to be everyone else that came before (or those who are new that ask the same questions). :)

I think you need to open some of those shitty games you have and play them instead of doing this.

I also appreciate that he doesn't mindlessly regurgitate sexist, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, etc. shit that is rampant *everywhere* (real life and virtual life).

The great thing is that you and Zeta do NOT have to be best friends! :pcgs: You can both co-exist here. You can both enjoy 90% of your time here (well, it's impossible for Zeta to achieve 90% happiness, due to his temperament, but he can probably achieve 65% happiness on a good day).

Storino's alright.  He's by no means the worst person we've had on here, even this month.  If he's willing to let sleeping dogs lie, we should probably all chill out a bit.  Well the people that are usually chilled out anyway.

As far as swearing goes, a word is a word, and while gratuitous swearing is generally (at least to me) a sign of unintelligence, swearing per se is a langual tool that we can use to express extreme emotions in a way everyone understands - even the f word itself is almost, while not onomotopaeic (sp?), the physical embodiment of extreme emotion. The fricative, and violent expulsion of air, ending with the equally violent 'ck' sound - if you had no idea what it meant, just that word alone would carry a point across to you.

That's what I love about language, it's a wonderful thing - you shouldn't rely on the same tools all the time, and the larger your armoury, the better off you'll be.  But some tools really are damn useful.

storino should honestly be thanking you guys for this 'how-to' guide for being a member on the pcfx forums. I've never seen a guy come off all high and mighty and still be treated with some respect.  Most times the nasty stuff comes out and the thread hits 15+ pages of mindless insults to scare them away.
