Why has this shooting (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/sikh-temple-shooting-175002467.html?_esi=1) been relatively ignored compared to the Batman shooter douche? Is it because the asshole is dead, because he was a known racist scumbag, because he killed a bunch of Sikhs instead of 'real' Americans, or what? All I know is I'm glad the cocksucker is dead and won't be wasting any tax dollars for trial and incarceration.
Obviously around here I've barely stopped hearing about it. My best friend lives mere blocks from there, and relayed the craziness...almost surreal.
yea, locally it's been mentioned plenty on TV/Radio.
Perhaps the reason Batman has gained more national exposure is due to Warner Bros. and their amazing marketing campaign? ;)
Its because the guys already dead, so there wont be any trial to sensationalize over, nothing to milk news ratings for.
He didn't dress up as a character.
duh.
Professor is right, there's not as much to sensationalize. But I did hear about it quite a bit here. Not only was the guy a racist he was also a complete dumb fuck who confused Sikhs with Muslims. Even if his goal was to blow away anyone non-white, I don't really see how he could rationalize that doing any good for the country. Of course, he was probably way beyond being rational. From his perspective, we're all a bunch of foreigner-loving bleeding heart pussy liberals. The world will NEVER be a place where his type can naturally fit in. That's good.
I heard about it, but.. it's probably for the best that we don't. Sikhs are fucking cool, and Most Americans are, but this guy was aa fucking aberation. For once the media got it right, don't give him what he wanted.
I don't disagree with anything posted above. I've actually seen a fair amount of coverage for this story, it's still heavily featured in Google News. There are a couple of other disturbing factors here: a) the causality count of the Aurora shooting was an order of magnitude higher and b) the movie scenario probably hits much closer to home for most folks than a shooting in a place of worship (though I should point at that these happen somewhat regularly, including here in CO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Colorado_YWAM_and_New_Life_shootings)).
Active shooter situations are fucking awful. At least this guy isn't breathing anymore. I don't know what else to say.

gained more national exposure? more like immensly gained more worldwide exposure. they even had canceled the premierer in div. countries.
Sikhs are some of the nicest fucking people. Fuck that guy and I'm glad he's dead. To anyone else thinking about going on a shooting rampage, just skip the hard part and blow your own brains out instead. Someone in jail needs to hurry up and stick a shiv in the gut of that Colorado shooter. I'm tired of this shit. People just minding their own business living their lives shouldn't need to worry about crazy assholes randomly killing them.
Chris
That is because a movie theater, affects theater ( like on Broadway ) people, security officials. Firearms law, public safety.
All that just shows us, that people still have their wires crossed, about Religion, and war efforts.
Anything on a personal level generates, far greater controversial.
It was a news item that came up when I logged into my Yahoo Email account, so I knew about it - I argued with a whole bunch of hacks in the comment section about it, too! So I can't classify it as "relatively ignored" but I would say that in the case of the Colorado shooting, given the amount of people shot, using the opening night of a blockbuster movie like Batman, the killer now appearing in court all fucked up looking with his defense ready with the mental-illness card, etc. it has more reasons to stay in the news cycle longer and be more prominent.

Ah, lucky, they evidently knew to have armed security in the Church's case.
