OK, when I popped this game in and began to play, I knew it was an 18+ game. I figured it'd show some nudity. What I wasn't prepared for, was just how much and... the text! I mean, wow! The dialog is just crazy! I wish I could post some pictures of what I mean (I snapped a few so the wife could see, I doubt she would've believed me). Man, it's going to be fun trying to unlock every photo of each girl. In a strange way, I'm kinda addicted to this game. Never thought...
So, has anyone ever gotten every still shot of each girl ? And is it possible to finish the game with every one (so far I've only been able to "end" the game with Shouko... got "dumped" by Reika) ? Does it depend on your stats at the end ?
... just an FYI, I've never played an 18+ game before, so I'd believe if you've played games like this you probably won't be as shocked as I was. But for me, well... imagine going from Bonk's Adventure to this!

I remember strangely enjoying it too... back in the '90s... before the English patch.
I wasn't a huge fan of this type of game, but I gave just about every FX game a chance.
Other games like this might be fun with an English patch too.

Im a little confused... so I finally got Reika to be my "girlfriend" at the end of the game, and now have every CG photo of her. But when I got my boss, Shiho, to be my "girlfriend" at the end of the game in the next playthrough, there are about 4 (I think) CG photos of her that I didnt unlock. And... we never had sex (damnit). Perhaps her other photos unlock when you go through another character's playthrough? Or do you think its cause I was weak and had sex with Reika (I couldnt help myself, Reika is just so damn EASY!) during my courtship of Shiho, eliminating my chance during that particular playthrough?
Also, it seems as there are 2 other unlockable characters shaded in black in the CG section... wonder who they are and how you aquire them?
If anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'd appreciate it

The PC-FX is a completely different system. Incompatible with any TG16 or PC Engine hardware or software. It was NEC's sucessor to the PC Engine (32 bit, FMV capable, etc). Compareable to the PSX or Saturn. Pia Carrot will only play on a PC-FX

Oops. :oops: I thought you were talking about the PC Engine. Can't say I'll be buying a PC-FX any time. That system is just too big and bulky for me so I guess I'll have to live through you. My apologies for being a dumbass.

The systems not really large in size at all. Before mine arrived, I was expecting something about the size of an old pc tower but I'd say it's a little less than half the size .
Yeah, its a lot smaller than I thought too... about 9.5in tall, maybe 4.5in wide, and 11in long. I looks really neat in my gameroom and everyone who goes in there is immediately drawn to it

It's not a big TV, average I'd say. It's a Samsung 40" LCD. Hooked up with cheap-o Walmart composite cables. I played with the settings for over an hour to get them where I wanted them with the older consoles. It turned out OK I guess.
My wife's not really into video games, not like I am. When I told her about this particular one, she wanted to give it a try... and like myself, got hooked. She'll play any 2 player game with me, but usually won't sit down and play a game by herself. Now, regular TV (cable) she can't get enough of. I feel like I bought our living room TV just for her (even though she broke our last one). I hardly ever get to watch it... which is why I went all out on my gameroom!
I've played a bit more today, this time persuing Yukiko. I can now cross her off my list, although I have a few more CG images to get of her in the alternate uniforms to have all her photos unlocked...

This is just a random aside, but my favorite dating sim, oddly enough, is a game on N64 called Getter Love!! (it's the only true dating sim in the N64's entire library). It's this really bizarre hybrid of a dating sim and a board game. It can be played with up to four people, but even playing alone with three AI opponents, the competitive angle really makes it a ton of fun. Of course, given its nature, it doesn't have the depth of story of something like Pia Carrot.

But the general flow of the game is that everybody picks where they want to go on the map for each turn, then it goes through each player one by one as they meet girls, set up dates, go on dates, answer questions and give gifts to increase the girl's affection, challenge the other players to mini-games, use items to help yourself or screw over the other players, and ultimately try to be the first to confess your love to a girl without getting rejected (or if you do incredibly well, the girl will confess herself).

I've actually been around for over a year, but I don't pop in too often. But thanks for the welcome regardless. :) I never got so much attention before posting my gender, haha.
I probably should check out the other sections more. I do love my PC Engine Duo-RX too (more than the PC-FX actually, which is guess is no big surprise considering the size and quality of the PC Engine library, but I love rooting for an underdog so that makes me fascinated with the PC-FX).
I pop by for the first time in a while and...wow! It really warms my heart to hear about new folks discovering Pia Carrot and to read about people enjoying this game. This has seriously made my week!
I know tpivette has been talking up the scenes in this game, which are quite nice, but as a counterpoint I'd like to mention that the stuff is pretty tame by today's standards. Not that it's kids stuff, but I agree with Ji-L87 that playing these games to enjoy is the way to go. If anything I hope folks give it a try for the pictures, and stay for the charming characters and story.
As for other games like this on PC-FX I can also personally recommend First Kiss Story. There are no scenes like in WtPC but there is some risque humor, and it's a charming and heartwarming love story that Pia fans will enjoy. Who knows, maybe I'll manage a translation of it someday...
I will admit, Pia Carrot is a different style game than I had ever played in the west. There is definitely a lot more here than some dirty pics. There is some depth to be enjoyed. I thought Saori's story was particularly interesting.

That would be awesome. :) And it seems like more people than ever are taking an interest in the game thanks to its fighting mini-game.
Ooh, that's a good point. Okay, I'm going to get cracking on current PC-FX projects and see if we can look into that one.
Man, that would be awesome if there were another english text PC-FX title!
First Kiss Story is on my wish list, not only because of the mini game (even though that is part of it), but because I heard so many good things about its storyline. To have it in english would be amazing!

Also just FYI: the script for Ojousama Sousamou has had a complete first draft translated, at least as much of the text as has been dumped. ...And, I just got a script from another PC-FX game that I will reserve announcing just to increase the suspense. :twisted:

So I'm being unpolite and bringing this thread back from the dead (?) :mrgreen:
But I just sat down with Pia Carrot on the FX yesterday evening and made a run through Reika's route, continuing off my save file back from when this thread was still fresh. Not sure who, if any, I went after back then (I think I just started the game, couldn't decide which girl to pick and then stopped) but I think I safely got through Reika's route...although, I can't shake the feeling I missed something since I didn't unlock everything in her gallery.
Oh well, I'm planning one or more rounds through this weekend and just wanted to come back here and say "thank you!" to the team for bringing it out in english. Digging through the forums looking for this thread, it seems more translations have been made over the years or is in the works and that's just beyond cool.
One question however, I often see loose letters and such getting "stuck" and sticking around on top of other graphical elements in the game - did this happen to anyone else? I don't remember reading about it.
Not sure who to go after this time, after all Milk is clearly superior but aside from that, which other characters have a fun or interesting route? The mysterious green haired one perhaps, although I don't remember seeing her in my last playthrough.
Edit: Doh! Saw there actually was a Pia Carrot guide-thread on the first page, and from this year....haha, now I feel stupid for rezzing this old post. /o/
Graphics got stuck for me too. But this would be infrequent and self correct itself quickly enough where it wasn't a real issue. Did your screen stay screwed up through the whole game?

Hm...it comes and goes. Opening the data screen (with all the information about the girls) is a surefire way to get parts of a letter and a few random pixels to get stuck for a while. But it seems certain scenes refreshes or redraws the screen and erases these minor issues as a result but once appeared, these loose pixels can hang on for a while.
Btw, does anyone have any good tips for Saori's route? I don't want to "cheat" with a guide yet but some help would be welcome, I met her twice and let her sleep over but never saw her again :p
Saori was my favorite. General tips are to be notorious (https://youtu.be/Z9z0e1Wm64M) and *don't* try to get it on with her when you have the chance.
