$4 BILLION+.....(waits for "we'll see Star Wars characters in Kingdom Hearts YAYYYYYYYYY").
LMAO, I literally JUST read this!! OMFG!?!?!?

So now Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars? Does this mean we'll finally see that Han Solo/Gambit crossover we've all been craving??
QuoteLucas said in a statement, "It's now time for me to pass 'Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers."
That time came a couple decades ago. But hey, better late than never!

awwwwww
Episode VII in 2015 :\
I'm not sure this is a good thing, but I can't see Disney fucking up S.W. any more than Lucas has as of late (~two decades). I'm more worried about them ruining ILM, Skywalker Sound, and Lucas Arts, though not so much on the latter (they haven't done anything that interests me in years).
Does this mean Disney will port Maniac Mansion to the Turbo?!?
Joking aside, the only good thing that could possibly come from Disney's involvement would be an archival BD release of the theatrical originals.
Two massively unwieldy, totally over the hill companies have merged. I'm thrilled.
and remember....

Star Wars Episode VII "The Return Of The Ewok Menace".
Star Wars is the most overrated film series ever made. As I am not attached emotionally, I hope they ruin it even more so I can have a good laugh.
I wonder how they're going to pull it off? CG? Cameo transition to a completley new story line? Solo Children?
Luke will discover that when he takes his shirt off he sparkles in the sunlight
Good maybe now we can just get a movie about han solo finally, his smuggler years
Still wonder if it will put this star wars anime on hold.

Episode VII??? Ok so I have been a fan of watching the OT films first, the PT. But it will be weird having a VII. So I wonder if the best viewing order will changed to actually watching them in order. lol
Star Wars = ep. IV ~ VI. Everything else related to that is bullshit^32!
I enjoyed Darth Maul...but the rest of the movie was total crap, Episode II had it's moments and III was pretty cool. I just can't believe how the PT characters felt like cardboard cutouts. How Geroge Lucas caused an actress like Natelie Portman to feel 2 dimensional. I wish Disney actually re-imagines Episode I-III.
The thing that bugs me about today's press release is that the announcement for Episode VII is completely unmotivated creatively. It's solely profit driven (like all movies I suppose, I just don't like it being so blatant). There's no mention of a plot outline being unearthed from Lucas' vaults. No prestigious writers in negotiations for the screenplay. No Star Wars novel to be adapted. It's just "HEY! We bought this THING and now we're going to SELL IT to you!" And we're all supposed to go apeshit because a new Disney movie will be whipped up with "STAR WARS!!!" branding plastered all over it.
Why not let news of the sale sink in and people speculate about the possibilities for a while? Why announce a movie when there's absolutely nothing to say about it?
Farkney sux big dix in hellz.

Even if you don't like his comedy shtick, there's some very intelligent film criticism in there.
Its not really a new trilogy, they have had the script for it for the past 20 years that is if they go with what was done on a audio cd it could be really cool. Or just have JAR JAR star in it for the little kiddies.
I wonder if they will follow the books official cannon or split it off. Technically the sequels have been around for quite a few years.
Episode 7 should deal with Cade Skywalker or beyond.

I second this. I think the ONLY characters that should come back are C-3PO and R2D2, no Han Solo/Leia cameo, have Mark Hamill Cameo once to hand it off. Go with new cast.

Redlettermedia is the shit. They're like a modern Mystery Science Theater, but more relevant.

Oops. Shows how much I know about Star Wars trivia.

From what I have heard the next movie set will not be based on the Thrawn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrawn_trilogy) trilogy. Which... is a shame really...
Negative. They already debunked the thrawn trilogy speculation.
