My local game store has a cd only of beyond shadowgate. I'm staring at it now. Is it worth $99.99? I can't find it online anywhere
A bit too much for a loose copy IMO.
Where are you? That's E? It's in mass, saw one there about a month ago, loose for $99.
They also wanted $149 for a loose sega cd of snatcher. God I hate people.
That's exactly where I am. Both are still there picked up Bonks adventures for $9.99 and headed home
Hahaha! Who has two thumbs and knows where to find all the crappy deals?... THIS GUY!
I make an annual trek there on Black Friday. Hopefully they have some decent deals next week.
Unlike carts, CD games have next to no collectible or functional value. The most a gouger should shoot for is $50, but really it's not worth it.
I wouldn't pay $100.00 for a loose copy, no way.
I'd pay maybe $10 for it. You can just burn an ISO any time you want; I don't get what the big deal is.

Probably due to the fact that there is so much uncertainty on playing cdrs on the actual hardware. I'd say just get a dreamcast or a xbox and play it via emulation on those systems. Or better yet finance someone to do a bootleg pressing of the game. Hell, the only people it will hurt are the collectors who think this stuff is worth its weight in gold so why not? It worked great for Sapphire.
Check around garage sales and flea markets. It might take some time, but you can find it for cheap. If you are impatient, you can always get the PCE version around 700¥.

:-k :-k :-k :-k
1) Sadler is hilarious.
2) Is it worth $100? No.
3) Are you going to find it cheaper? No.
4) It's 2012. Spend your money on something else.

4. that was my ultimate decider, The Wii U is out sunday, so $100 = 2 games for me (and 1 CD-R for shadowgate *cough*)

I wouldn't pay $100 for a loosey (ya might as well pay a bit more for a complete one), but five years from now the copy of Beyond Shadowgate will still be worth something when the Wii U games will be relatively worthless (not as fun either).

I predict that in 10 years, folks will covet the Wii U games, seeing as it will mark the beginning of SkiiNet, the defense system with self-aware Mii's.
Maybe you could get the Wii U, and trade it in for that copy of Beyond Shadowgate.
Mini-Wii
Quote from: JohnnyPhantom on 11/15/2012, 06:39 PMHow much is Beyond Shadowgate worth?
$5 bucks and not a penny more! Just one man's opinion, is all...

AHHHHH!!! WHAT SAY YOU??!!!!! :(
I'm just trying to sort of bid it down, Bernie. ;) I'll let ya know when I get back to playing it. I'll try to finish it eventually and see what I really think.
I wouldn't mind having Beyond Shadowgate if I could get it cheap

I'd go as high as $30. It doesn't hold a candle to the NES prequel.
I sold my copy to Sinistron for around $65.

That aint gonna happen. ENIAC's vacuum tubes got dibs on that timeline.
I always wonder how so many loose CD games show up on ebay or other stores for that matter. Am I alone in that I always keep whatever game or Audio CD I own in its original case?

It could be that people put them in those massive cd booklets and threw out the manual and case just to save space. Problem I have with those booklets is that more often than naught the cd gets even more scratched up from keeping in the darn thing.

No shit, the backing on those books are like sandpaper for some reason.
Not to derail the thread but, I just picked up a bunch of loose genesis carts that all had manuals but no clamshells. How the HELL does that happen. The John madden even had the stat sheet stuffed in the manual. All of these at a thrift store. So the books actually made it through processing with the games. It's a mad world.

You know, I enjoyed the NES version quite a bit BITD I recall. I recorded a video of my whole playthrough to boot which I probably still have somewhere.
