Here, everyone!
It's the games that were on that protocard from awhile back.
Slightly different, so no one who got the real thing feels jipped.
PS: They're open source, so you can noodle around and see what we do.
Including all my tunes.
I doubt that anyone with a protocard is gonna feel jipped by releasing these. I'm thrilled to see everyone else getting a chance to mess around with what only a select few have had access to for a while now. Plus open source code is a big bonus for anyone wanting to design PCE games.
Woo hoo!
QuoteI doubt that anyone with a protocard is gonna feel jipped by releasing these.
Maybe, Maybe not. But we didn't want to ruin their status as a collector item for the people who helped finance our future ventures (And thank you guys again). After all, it took some serious support to pay for those 3 games on a card. (They could use a -lot- of work :)
With that said, everyone who has been thinking about writing a game now has actual working examples to start with.
You can look at the code, and see how to use squirrel, mix in assembler, handle sprites....heck, there is even a routine to draw to tiles in vram. There is a lot of useful information there.
Now if the guy who wrote that island adventure can use some of those tricks......

so what ever happened to the protocade, am i correct in thinking a lucky few got a prototype? would have liked to have tried one myself. Releasing the source is great and i will find that useful :)

We made 10 cards and used the funds to buy new stuff to further the prototype.
Hi Arkhan
Thank you for releasing this.
I don't think that I will ever have time to get back into programming but I am sure that I will find it interesting taking a look at how things are done :-)
im pretty sure I removed all my swearing in the comments.
You should see Atlantean.
The comments are pretty rude, to myself.
Ark, any idea when the next version of your card is gonna come out? I meant to buy one of the protos, but as usual I procrastinated myself out of it.
the next release will likely be Atlantean.
Ultima II...
Sorry, couldn't help myself...
You wish it was Ultima 2!!!!
