Title: Elite for the NES
Post by: VenomMacbeth on 05/14/2013, 03:04 AM
I discovered Elite about a month back.  I tried playing it via emulation on my PSP, but I guess either the rom was screwed up or my emulator couldn't handle it because it was

Does anybody own/know anything about this game?  It appears to be a PAL title, but I'm unfamiliar with regional compatibility for the NES.  Will it work on NTSC hardware?  Is it worth tracking down even if it does?

It's a legendary 3D space exploration computer game in Europe and is probably not the same on a console. Retro  Gamer seemed to feature it every issue early on, but I've never actually played it. I believe that it was the number one game in their top 100 retro list.

This game is pretty cool, but unfortunately only works properly on a PAL NES. On an NTSC NES the bottom 3rd or so of the screen is garbled (tried it last night). PAL NES has more v-blank time since PAL is super slow. Still, you can tell how awesome and impressive this game is.

Retro Gamer can't seem to shut up about this game. I would really like to try it out one day.
