Let me first start out by saying hello. I'm from Michigan and I'm 23 years old. I am a video game collector and manly collect for the Sega Genesis but I also collect for other systems like PS2, SNES, & NGPC to name a few. I have always been interested in trying to start collecting for the TG16. I figured that this place would be the best place for me to start that collection. I hope that I am here for many years and look forward to meeting all of you.
Welcome! I hope you will also consider collecting for the PC-FX. :)
Yeah, welcome aboard. This is actually the sub-forum for the PC-FX, which is another awesome system made by NEC. They Turbo/PCE are awesome systems with some great games.
Enter some discussions in the other sections of the forum and make some friends. If you ever have a question, feel free to ask. People are great here and it's a fairly tight knit community.
Again, welcome and enjoy your time here.

I relized this was a subforum after I posted this and started looking around. But thank you everyone!
werkome to the obey farm :)
I hope the 89 in your name is due to the TGs release date.
I'd guess that its his birth year ;)
Welcome, comrade. :pcgs:
I encourage you to play. Now. The TG-16/PCE is a piece of love waiting to be nurtured and hugged.
Yep it is my birth year, but it's still a pretty rad name. ;)

Welcome to the wild and wonderful world of NEC gaming. :) You'll start with playing some fun platformers and shmups and such on the PC Engine, and then before you know it, you're playing hentai dating sims on the PC-FX, haha. Or at least, that's how it went for me. :P

I was gonna make a ref to Punk but he posted up first.
Welcome! Stick with Turbo/PCE for now, you can graduate to PC-FX after you learn about it.
Welcome aboard!
welcome to obey!

Oh crap, I'm doing it in the wrong order. I don't even have a PC Engine. :(
*cough*
In all seriousness, hi!

$An ideal PC Engine Duo setup is expensive for me (I've not been able to find a setup that doesn't cost me as much as getting a current-gen game system when all final fees are tallied up) and I need what money savings I have for less related and more ambitious game collecting/gambling. (http://superfamicom.org/blog/)
In contrast, I managed to snag a PC-FX cheap.

Unfortunately, said store is closed now. Sorry.
Rising Stuff I'm guessing? I miss 'em, they were good for PC-FX stuff. :(
It is weird when you think about it that a PC-FX can be had for less than a PC Engine Duo. I mean, the PC Engine was fairly successful in Japan, not to the level of the Super Famicom but still doing well enough, while the PC-FX was a huge commercial flop. I have no idea what the exact numbers are, but there's got to be way more Duos out there than PC-FX systems. But at the end of the day, rarity doesn't mean much if there isn't much demand, and even with the Duos being a lot more common, they have the demand to pull in bigger amounts than the PC-FX.
I have yet to find a decent PC-FX for under 250-300 shipped so far. My duos were much cheaper. that being said I have seen a few go for as littlle as a hundred.

Yeah, my scenario is basically the polar opposite.

Nailed it! In the end I paid around $120, came with the system, all required hookups, two controllers, Battle Heat and Little Cats. (I probably could've paid less but I wanted decent shipping and the goodies, the deal was too good to pass up as it was.)
I would never have paid $250-300 for my PC-FX. Heck, I haven't yet paid that much for what would amount to my entire PC-FX game collection as of now, and that even includes the Pia Carrot/Can Can Bunny FX double pack and the copy of Chip-chan Kick I lucked out on obtaining on a price well below the $100 dollar range by some deranged miracle.

Yeah, this. I remember seeing one back over @ Rising Stuff, a junk unit, that at the time I wasn't financially well enough to buy, especially considering the condition.
Now all of them are expensive just to buy and shipping those things here to sweden comes with truly unpleasant costs.
Still, I'm sure it's possible to get one for a better price on YAJ or something - just have to save up I guess.
Thanks everyone!

A belated, "Welcome to Pcenginefx!"
BTW, just to empathize how expensive it is for me to try to get a good PC Engine setup, here's one on eBay I gave up prepping to bid on because the base bid price just got higher than the price I paid total for my PC-FX:
