Title: PC Engine on US TV
Post by: Official Ninja on 08/08/2013, 10:52 AM
I am thinking about getting a PC Engine. I read that it only has RF out. Does the RF work on USA TV's. I read it would work but there would be no audio.
If so, I guess the core grafx would be better to get.
Thanks!

To avoid RF headaches, hook up white PCE to an AV Booster or SCD or IFU suitcase and you will be happy.

OTHERWISE, get a CORE GRAFX...  :pcgs:

Cool pictures. Thank you! So is the AV Booster common or is it hard to find like the Turbo one?

The Turbo Booster isn't hard to find, duder!  They're like 10-15$, too!

The AV Booster is cheap and easy to find.

You can always get an IFU too and use that for av out and keep an eye out for a cd rom in the future. You'll want to get into cd games eventually

Thanks for all the replies and advise. I was under the impression the Turbo Booster was hard to find but I guess i was wrong. :)

You can also build your own composite cable that plugs directly into the pins in the back of the console.

I'm currently using one of those cables on my TG-16 because I'm too lazy to hunt down a booster (really I want to hold out until I can get another CD attachment and skip the booster alltogether). :D

I'm pretty sure the pins on both US/JP consoles are the same configuration...

for most TVs using a NES/SMS/Genesis/TG16/SNES RF switch and trying channel 95 or 96 should do the trick.

Yeah, I think 96 worked when I tried it in the past.
