Really? http://www.atarimuseum.com/videogames/consoles/7800/expansion/
Reminds me of that Super CPU for the Commdore 64. I don't see a point in doing this...
I think the additional sound chip is cool, but...I don't have a 7800. :/
It does more than just add additional audio, it also acts a RAM expansion (which is a boon for homebrew developers since the 7800's 2K of RAM is fairly limiting) and it has a SIO connector so you could theoretically use Atari 8-bit computer peripherals on it. I actually preordered one of these when it was first announced but needless to say I'm still waiting on it.

Its a interesting concept, but paying $150 just to make your Atari 7800 that much better than the NES or arcade like seems like the time could be better spent on building a new console from the ground up.
Its for people who like wasting money making shitty computers be less shitty. Duh.
:)
You haters are crazy. You may not care about the 7800, but if you can't see why folks would find this sort of thing fun/exciting...well, damn! You are jaded. Jaded.

WOW!!

For $150 I can get a video card that does 20x more than the XM. Sad but true. I'm not hating, just saying. :) Hell I even get a free game along with it as well.

It's the fun of brewing/fabricating new hardware for ancient tech, you know :pcgs: :pcgs:
Practical? Who says we have to be practical? :pcgs:

Not if you buy Nvidia. With that all you get is imaginary money.
I read this thread title and assumed it was an interface to permit the 7800 to listen to XM satellite radio.
That would be epic :)

Yeah in all two channel tia glory. I guess I better see it in action before I make anymore judgements. It's being demoed at the retro gaming convention in Portland this year.
