Title: Wii U - Zelda Edition: Who's buying one?
Post by: Duo_R on 09/23/2013, 03:33 PM
ok with the recent price drop of the Wii U I was interested in getting this soon. Now the Zelda edition was just released and now I am thinking of getting this.

Cons: the Zelda graphics are only on the Gamepad, not the system. The extras included are digital copies (not physical bonuses).

That said these items are still extras, I own the original Wind Waker and never actually played it. Wouldn't mind playing in HD. And a digital copy of the Hyrule book is still kinda cool.

Who else is thinking of jumping on the bandwagon with this one?

If it was a physical copy of the game I'd be in for sure but being digital I'm staying on the fence at least through black Friday.  The system and packaging looks really nice though.

The top shelf Wii U stuff also seems to be rolling out now.
-New Super Mario Bros Wii U
-Pikmin
-Wonderful 101
-Wind Waker
-Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (soon)
-Super Mario 3D World (soon)

+ a few others that seem interesting but might not appeal to everyone.  Really believe now is a great time to jump aboard the Wii train.

Yeah I think this isn't a bad deal but your right Black Friday should have some good ones too. Although at this point I could always hang on to this from Target and return it if something rolls around that is better.

Also anyone know a good method for me to update shop channel to do a system transfer? I got 4.3 and being required to update to 4.4.

Do I do the 4.4 update and then NAND restore? Or find a new shop channel WAD that won't check my system version?

I would but I don't like the dust/fingerprint magnet that is that glossy paint job (no matter how cool the gamepad is).

I thought long and hard on it, but decided to just get the Limited Edition version of the game when it's released.  I've already preordered it from Gamestop at least so I won't have to pay gouge prices.  Maybe around Thanksgiving/Christmas I'll actually pick up a Wii U.  If you've bought one already though, I heard Target is doing Buy 2 Get 1 on all Wii U games.

You heard right and get 5% off the system with a Red Card

That is really nice I would have done that.  When they said the LE Wind Waker was a gamestop exclusive I always thought they meant the bundle.  When I saw other places selling the bundles I thought the gamestop exclusiveness  was incorrect info.  That seems like a really cool bundle for $60
Title: Re: Wii U - Zelda Edition: Who's buying one?

I believe the LE figurine/game bundle is exclusive to Gamestop. The Zelda Wii U bundle is not.

I just got my Zelda Wii U bundle. it's great! Wireless range from gamepad and console are pretty poor, relying on a lot of factors (wall thickness/material, interference, etc). The gamepad itself is really light too. Gamepad screen isn't bad at all.

Well I picked one up. I was thinking about getting the LE of the physical copy of the game but they are sold out! :-(

Oh well I guess it might be nice to have a digital copy always on the system.

I picked up the zelda edition console.  Seems pretty neat!

one option for you guys... looks like people are selling the wind waker hd download codes on ebay for $35 - $40 so you could just sell your codes and buy the retail game for a little more.

If i had not already bought a Wii U, I would jump on this, but I just cannot do it for a unique pad design.  :(  If it were the console too, then I'd consider it.  I reserved a copy of Wind Waker HD however.  :)

I'm in the process of buying retro stuffs instead.  I am however considering getting a wii-u at some point over the holiday season.  as this is my favorite Zelda game and since I recently passed my copy along to another player, I think the game itself might still be worth while.  This "box" set just didn't seem to make much scene to me.  You don't get to much in the way of physical goodies.

And I also successfully transferred my Soft modded Wii VC files to the Wii U! Took forever but all done!

Best part is I didn't lose homebrew on the original Wii, just took alot of reading up on how to do it.

Good to know. I was contemplating transferring data from Wii --> Wii U, but didn't want to undo the soft-mod I did to my Wii.

I didn't know of the Gamestop Wind Waker limited edition and I am not happy that it is sold out.  It is already selling for $150 on ebay...

If I didn't get a Wii U at launch, this bundle is a no brainer.  If they don't sell out and there is a good sale, I might get one anyway, but not at full price.

On a quasi-related noted, the Pokemon X and Y 3DS XLs were incorrectly being sold at Target tonight, since they are not supposed to be out for another few days.  I almost bought them...  but I already have 3 3DSes...  lol

Yeah, it was pretty nuts.  I only found out about it because of a thread on NintendoAge where someone mentioned it was up.  I think it basically sold out in like a day, pretty sure the majority are flippers though. :(

Wii u is the only console I am considering for the future ATM. But I need metroid or a new zelda to seal the deal. I've played windwaker to death on cube

Add me: FinalFantasy4Eva

Though it would be nice for a Final Fantasy-type game on the Wii U, I doubt we'll get much support from Square Enix. Maybe a dumb crystal chronicles again. -_-

Add me too: CLU2.0

Also how about we take over the Xevious Mii community and make it the unofficial PCE community???

FYI just bought Nintendoland used for $7 at gamestop. Since you get the Zelda pack in its cool to get some mini games on the cheap.

The box was marked $13.99 used and rang up $7, that's worth picking up at that price. I think of it as a demo disk

Sorta...

From what I understand, you still need the Wii controller to actually play the game. The WiiU pad just displays the screen.

Well, controls don't work yet, but a nice little screen I'll keep computer for another place to VC game... this is actually pretty cool. Gotta use a Wii-mote but still pretty neat.

^ yeah it is a bit neat. I don't see myself using it though. Really have no reason to.  Also i'm glad that DK got delayed. There is way to much good stuff coming out on Wii U and 3DS in the next few months. I won't be able to keep up

ughhh I not sure if I should grab one of these.. I did like the original on Gamecube but I still think the wii U is kinda pricey here in the UK especially since it's just a code for digital release.  But I can't decide between this or Xbone..

There are 4 versions of Zelda wind Waker being released...
