Been looking at PS2 titles that I never got to play, one of them being Rygar.
The game play seemed GoW-ish and the texture work seemed really nice.
So which PS2 games had a above avg visual flare/texture work?
If you are so inclined include any other games for other systems from that generation. I believe there was a sequel to Rygar on the Wii that looked great.
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Odin Sphere
I would love to see how vanilla ware games are done. Have u tried the HD version of ico and shadow?
nope only played them on PS2
have you seen the PS1 rendition of Ico? heh
Star Ocean 3 looked awesome even though portions of the game made me want to slash my throat.
same with Valkyrie Profile 2. That game was pretty awesome looking.
FF9 is the KING of PS1 graphics hands down. The battle scenes are just ridiculous

I may be mistaken since its been 10 years, but didn't Nightmare Before Christmas on PS2 look pretty slick?

Say what?

the game was developed for the PS1 but took too long to release so they moved on to make it on PS2 that's why it was such an early title for the system.

Shadow of the Colossus
Odin Sphere
These were the first to pop in my mind. Then I scrolled down and saw someone beat me to it. I think I'll throw in Drakengard.

Well color me informed. How neat.
I wonder if that's what will happen to that one game with the giant Griffon looking beast.
The last guardian. Been crossing my fingers for that one forever

You are missing the version with the kawaii anime headshots instead!
Are we counting stuff that's cel shaded? Dragon Quest VIII looks fantastic.

That's still "texture" work of sorts sure.
Metal Head on 32X eh? interesting. That screen shot does have some solid textures, didn't think the 32X could do that.

DISCLAIMER: I like the 32X.
Back on topic, Magna Carta for the PS2 looks pretty good despite being a piece of shit game. The character designs from Hyung-tae Kim definitely don't hurt it though. (boobs and thighs everywhere!)

Kim's artwork is fantastic. That exagerated limbs stuff looks great with his characters fashion. Not since JoJo's have we had wicked awesome fashion.
