Title: YouTube/Google+
Post by: KnightWarrior on 11/13/2013, 02:51 PM
I don't like how Google is forcing people to have a Google+ accout just to comment, Alot of people are not happy about it

What is everyone's take on here?

I have never used comments so personally i dont care.
BUT, i am sick of being asked to set up goog+ every time i log into gmail or log out.
Soon, you will need it to search.

I can still upload, but can no longer reply to comments.   I really can't see this going over though, only a matter of time before the big money makers start abandoning ship to places like Blip or Vimeo...

a) If you use Vimeo, you are an asshole. I can't understand why anyone would support that, it's just awful. [glares at Engadget/]

b) Comments on Youtube have been universally awful since day one. I'm not convinced ownership of remarks is a bad thing.

c) If you use google, you've got a Google+ account. Yeah, don't deny it, everyone here already has an account.

d) I'm tempted to make a comparison between the uneducated but want to be cool users who bitch about this and the uneducated but want to be cool users who bitch about Microsoft. Yeah, you aren't cool. STFU.

Audio quality. I tried to post a video with ten seconds of terrible scraping metal at an ear-piercing 4kHz once. Youtube compressed it to lossy nothingness. Vimeo prevailed!

I really hate the comments' section now. If it were easy to pull up replied commentaries like the old version I wouldn't care so much I guess.

It's an unpopular opinion but...

Free to Use = Google can do whatever they want

If you have Gmail, you have G+. Doesn't mean you have to actively engage in using G+ (who really does anyway?)

It's bs when it comes down to it,but since google owns yt they can run it how ever they like.Though i still don't how they like forcing user into it just so you can comment.

YouTube has been getting worse and worse over the years and I really wish people would leave and make use of other places like NicoNico or Dailymotion. At lease there those places support 60fps which can be great for gaming vids.

A lot of content makers have already been using Blip for years now, using their YT channels solely to upload promos for their Blip vids. It'd have take something like YT no longer making it so easy to monetize in their videos before they'll finally fucking consider leaving that place.

I think Vimeo is a decent place to post/view videos...not that it has the huge audience of YouTube (it doesn't), but I never had any problems with it (lots of neat stuff is recommended, unlike the crap that is promoted/recommended by YouTube).
