After playing through Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu for the 7th or 800th time, I recalled a longtime appreciation for one of the power-ups that Jackie could employ against his foes; the handstand kick. Of all the attacks that Jackie can gain throughout his adventure, the handstand kick was the most well-received with me. Nothing felt better than planting a hand onto the turf and then kicking a rare and endangered Bengal tiger in the mouth from below as it tried to pounce on me. :mrgreen:

What are some of your favorite power-up items you like getting ahold of?
Bomberman's remote controlled bomb (bomberman 93), and the green super fast Rouie (Bomberman 94)
The Stick Figure's condom shield from Parodius series
Mario's Mushroom (classic, never gets old)
Bravoman's invincibility Coca Cola
Castlevania's Axe and Knife (Knife only awesome in SOTN imo)
Spriggan: Red/Blue Combo = 3-way shot and fire shield of doom!
Star Parodier: PC Engine w/ Orange HUs and the controllers spinning around (similar effect as above)
And just to keep it on topic (sorry those are PCE games) - Ninja Spirit: the powered up sword is good for most of the game, minus the bosses.
Dracula-X item crash,mostly for holy water which let's you use hydro storm.
I actually prefer that axe in that game, it's a lot more useful, and the item crash gives you a moment of invincibility which is really handy on the bosses. Still, it's fun of you have a bunch of hearts to use the holy storm twice to kill almost any boss.

However, I also think III + homing missiles is the way to go with BL.

I prefer I + homing missiles, because you get more missiles. Either that or II with Fullfire, because clearing the entire screen kicks ass.

I have a tendency to stick with the (usually) red "vulcan" weapon in vertical shmups.
