Post and discuss facts that no one likes to talk about here!
Example: Did you know that the voice actor of Duke Nukem, Jon St. Jon, also did the voice of Big the Cat in Sonic Adventure? True story.
He also does the voice of the "Come in, Cooper" guy in Half Life 1. Yeah.
He's a cool voice actor, just like David Hayter.
Fun Fact: 100% of women go through the menstrual cycle.
Fun fact: David H8R is no longer the voice of Metal Gear Solid because Kojima wants people to take the series seriously now.
so many trĂ¼ stories here and continuing.
Hideo Kojima is not God.

"It's true, I'm not."
Hideo Kojima wears hipster glasses, and hipsters are not to be trusted by any means.
Hideo Kojima is a frustrated director. And he thinks it's cool to expand a stupid story with highly idiotic character names from the MSX era into a 9999 hour epic. Of course his games are cool and all but does anyone really take the story of Metal Gear seriously anyway?

One day, there will be no more CRT televisions of any kind, anywhere. And thus - no lightgun games.
That's why I'm hoarding CRT's

There isn't an alternative fuel source that gives the same EROEI as fossil fuels.
We will not have an apocalypse. It will be a slow and ragged decent that does our technological civilization in. You can't create a lasting civilization based on non renewable energy sources.
How right you are Nando... And as much as I hate to admit it, I think that demise will come a lot sooner than most people think... Ill bet it will be in my lifetime and most definitely in our kids lifetimes... :(
And the lack of energy will be masked and exploited by the powers that be
Totally. The super wealthy will perpetuate their extravagant lifestyle as long as possible. The less fortunate will start to feel the impacts much earlier and much harder. Kind of like this recent recession. The people who suffered the most hardship were the poor and middle class. The wealthier folks experienced a hiccup but recovered much faster than the rest of us.
The frustrating part is I just dont see a plausible solution to the problem everything that would work requires significant lifestyle changes that most people, rich or poor, simply wont do until they are forced to.

And I agree, the peak has definitely passed. Its just a matter of how quickly will the decline happen. And can we transform out society before it hits the bottom. Ultimately things will correct themselves if we do nothing, it just wont be pleasant for a lot of people who just happen to be alive during the worst of it.

You can look at the history of Argentina and Venezuela, up to current day Venezuela; to get an idea as to how some things will go down, economically at least.
The best term to describe it is, Catabolic collapse. The slow dying off, no bang, no big rapture, no technological singularity; just the standard downwards collapse of yet another great civilization in the history of our species. A few million years from now, it will be the turn of the decedents of Raccoons and Ravens. We'll be the dinosaurs they dig up ;)

Man I love these forums!
I think this makes me a sociopathic loser, which, in turn, makes me cry: I have fantasized about liberating privately held prototypes. I mean physically sneaking into homes. Stealing. Dumping the ROM. Then returning the physical item.
I don't think my behavior is any better, or less selfish, than the hoarder's.
Which makes me cry. Bittersweet tears, though, since we will all be playing some crappy, half-finished Off The Wall prototype.
Oh, I did I mention that I was only going to liberate Tengen prototypes?
Stop crying, pcefxers. Seriously. Stop.
I hadn't thought of that Esteban but that's not a bad Idea. If you need an accomplice let me know :D
P.S. Do we really need to return the item?
I'd like to see Off the Wall on the PCE for once, esteban.

I'm pretty sure the reason we have all those stupid tutorial missions in games nowadays is because of those retards who complained about having to read the manual.

Ah, you posted it here too right after
my Facebook thread! Heh, yeah, pretty much.
I wouldn't even cite this "black on black" crime notion personally. I'd rather emphasize those CDC stats you saw: that in 2012 twice as much white perps/suspects were shot dead by white cops than blacks, the idea being to try - in futility - to fight the news media's defamatory racism-everywhere narrative of our police forces being an army of racist KKKillers, etc.
A white guy shot dead by a white cop ? Meh, who cares. Black guy ? Well now, if it bleeds it leads, if it burns it earns! We can use that for mayhem!!

Well said. Not to mention the crimes where black cops have shot unarmed whites dead. In my eyes, white, black, yellow, brown, red it doesn't matter. If you put yourself in a position to be shot by an officer of the law, chances are you were up to no good or at least were non-compliant with officer's commands. I'm not defending either side but why does the news automatically paint the person who was shot out to be the victim.

What a great game
I love point-and-click adventures! I grew up playing Sierra games, later discovered and fell in love with LucasArts, and I even dabble in text adventures a bit. I actually wrote an article on Zork for Hardcore Gaming 101, but so far, it has only been printed in their book on Graphic Adventures.
I'm very pleased that the genre has made a bit of a comeback. I love solving those pseudo-logic puzzles. I remember playing AGD Interactive's full remake of King's Quest II and feeling so OG when I figured out how to kill the werewolf pack leader without help.
...But I digress and derail this thread. Point-and-click adventure games should have their own thread. :)

Speaking of Kings Quest, there's a new one coming out!

We'll see if it lives up to the Roberta Willams classics.
I never really liked kings quest series.

To this day I've not played it with a sound card, but even with just a pc speaker, i enjoyed the hell out of playing this one on my Wang 386. I've heard that the music is amazing, and I always liked that it didn't hold your hand and allowed you to die.
I also enjoyed the hell out of a major PC manufacturer being named Wang. Those were the days.
Wang had many factories in the Northeast US when I was growing up.
They still have a performing arts center named after them in Massachusetts. But alas, that is all that remains of the Wang legacy.
My 386 IBM Compatible was loaded with Sierra games. I never played The Dig and other than Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, I haven't played too many Lucas Arts games. I need to get on that. Grim Fandango was great IMHO and I even beat the Duck Man Point and Click.
