... I love this game.
Turbo Technologies Incorporated ( TTI ) - Lords of Thunder Promotion Video for TurboDuo console (https://youtu.be/TPN_TAHVocc#)
classic.
Dang I don't have this one yet, bid on a few of them in the past year but they always went too pricey. My duo is also decapped but not recapped yet :(
There is some hope for me, I have the sega cd version, though my cd tray is goofy and needs some love to get games to load.
:-k starts to think about emulation..maybe if it wasn't a shooter.
Is it just me or do all pc controllers have a delay. I tested all my controllers a while back with blazing lazers and all of them lag so much I couldn't stand playing and went back to the real hardware. I tried xbox 360 usb and also usb adapters for genesis, saturn, cube etc is it the emulator or what, anyone else have this problem?
(reason why I like to emulate sometimes is big screen, stereo system and couch as apposed to 27 crt and office chair plus having to hook up the system, I know you cant beat real hardware though and will figure out a better set up some day  )
Does playing Winds of Thunder count as well? :)

Hell yes. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
This is my favourite game of all time it's an absolute masterpiece, it's gaming perfection.
Game has to be my second fav shooter on the turbo (1st is spriggan) Can't wait to play through this one again
Might be time to unwrap my copy I picked up like 2 years ago! It's high on my video game bucket list but I have only played through the first level (or one of them, it's selectable, isn't it), I know.. for shame, right? Got it for a good price though, $30 bucks new.

I agree, it's a masterpiece in every respect and also one of my all time favorites.

I just absolutely *love* the voice of the shopkeeper babe in Winds of Thunder. I don't understand Japanese, so I like to believe she's telling me how handsome I look and how she looks forward to me coming back to her place to give her more backrubs and foot massages.
Lords/Winds of Thunder wonderfully excels in every category. There isn't a single aspect of the game where it dips to simply "good". From start to finish, you will hear, see, feel, and take part in utter excellence.
I just started playing it, my god is it hard. I beat the first level, I'll get there lots of memorization for sure.

To me, this game's masterstroke is the close range melee attack, which elevates the shmuppy goodness to a whole other level of badassery.
Why, hello giant sandworm beetle monster... I
could shoot you with my flaming cannon of burning death, but instead please accept this SLASH IN THE @#$% FACE, GRAHHHHHH!
So metal.
The game is non stop amazing action for sure. every aspect is cranked up 11. That OST is GODLIKE
Yeah game owns, very colorful, awesome backrounds and badies, hooked up the disobey(segacd) last night and almost made the last boss then just now I passed 1cc on normal.
I pretended I was playing the obey version if that counts.
In the segacd version the shopkeeper says "May I help you?" and "Thank you." in a sexy voice.
segacd she is wearing red lipstick, does she have red lips in winds of thunder also?
Played this a few months ago. I effing suck. :(

I haven't played the Sega CD version in a while, but I seem to remember it being a lot easier than the Turbo one. Or maybe my reflexes were just better back then :-k
#-o will have to try the duo one soon and check it out

It's easier for sure.
Just checked it out and yeah normal mode on sega cd is like a cakewalk compared to obey version. obey just punishes you when you get hit and I could only get to the end of the 4th level lol -need to practice more. emulator controls feel delayed as usual. turbo version feel all around better even emulated. gonna go try to get farther now
PCE thunder is easy, so if the SegaCD version is even easier, then that is crazy. Seriously.
OPEN REQUEST:
But, here is what I REALLY NEED: if you have an original Sega-CD disc, I would like a high quality .mp3 rip of the soundtrack. I would like to make it available to anyone who wants to compare the soundtracks (Sega vs PCE)
PM me, thanks in advance. :pcgs:
pm sent :)

:-k I'm wondering why there are no final score shots yet or mention of beating it? :P
joking aside, I can't play this emulated :x .. I'll have to try hard mode on sega cd and accept that I can't obey in this thread.
..now if you'll excuse me...
Why, for the love of god is there even mention of feka in this thread? For a game that is this good there should be no mention of it. A high score section at the beginning would be nice, but there really is no time to snap a pic if you 1cc this game. Only way really is to record it on video.
Yes! Amazing game!!! Although I still haven't managed to beat this one ](*,)
picked this one up recently and like it so far....but no high score worth posting.............yet!

I'm surprised that no one said yet that the Sega CD version of Lords of Thunder DOESN'T EVEN COMPARE to the PCE one.
Got my copy of Winds of Thunder just in time for the weekend and GOTW. :D I did a quick play through and surprisingly I still have the game/bosses memorized after some years. Awesome game and I'm definitely gonna give it more play time this weekend.
Anyone know if there's a difference in difficulty or scoring compared to the US version, Lords of Thunder?
I was able to easily snap a pic at the end by pausing.
1cc on normal.

The shopkeeper has voice samples in Winds of Thunder, but not Turbo Lords of Thunder.
The red lips are actually just a color limitation compromise. Usually in Manga/Anime, lipstick is worn by wicked characters.
Phew! It's actually been about a year since I last played this. The 6th stage creamed me, but I managed to play the last third of it with one health speck remaining AND beat the boss. I then went on the beat the game.
Most thrilling gaming I've had in a while, that's for sure. Like I always do, I paused the game right before auto-flying to the 3rd boss, because the best part of that BGM actually comes after the stage normally ends. I had to put down my controller for a minute to air guitar.

(the stage ends somewhere around 2:50)
cgsx1, man, what are you doing to get that high score? I didn't get all of mine written down (didn't pause in time), but the first three digits were 135. I missed some enemies, but not that many. Did you finish with a lot of crystals?
I'll give this a roll in a little bit, too busy rocking Kato and Ken chanalanadingdong.....
I HATE the stupid water serpent bitch boss in AUZAL

Yes, there's a bonus for extra crystals. I had about 7000 crystals leftover, with no cheat I might add.
At the very end the leftover crystals are multiplied by 100 and that number is added to your score. My score was around 1.4 million before the crystal bonus.
First time 1cc'ing this game! feels good, I beat it once before using a continue and I was kind of not happy about it. Nice score too! 1,510,800

Quote from: guest on 04/19/2014, 11:50 PMnice, man. Did you finally give earth armor a shot?
I tried it but man I cant get used to playing at a different level in the game just to drop the ground weapon when it's not powered up. It just throws me off too much. Also gotta go with Water for Ceilon, wipes out everything on the screen that is normally super annoying in that level like the guys that come from the left side of the screen and shoot the homing. Water maxed doesn't even give them a chance to enter the screen
Is anyone else playing with the fire armor? I like it in part because of how quiet it is. It let's me hear the music more.
Quote from: SamIAm on 04/20/2014, 12:46 AMIs anyone else playing with the fire armor? I like it in part because of how quiet it is. It let's me hear the music more.
fire is ok, the first form with the diagonals is nice but powered up it kinda sucks. It's like they should have taken the first and just beefed it up, then it would have been good. The fire bomb though is really awesome and takes down some tough bosses and mid bosses
The way the fire armor leaves you vulnerable to enemies behind you does kind of suck. However, the way that the flames have an absolute pattern no matter what they're touching, and the way they do big damage to anything they overlap for long, balances it out pretty well. That and the bomb. Three of those alone will kill the final boss if they're well placed.
The thing I don't like about the water armor is that the rearward bullets of the strongest form wind up taking out lots of little enemies as they enter the screen from the left, which means the crystals they drop scroll off the screen immediately.
Wind armor is too damn noisy.
Earth armor is great when there's a floor, but I haven't clicked with it yet. I'm thinking I'll give it a shot today.
Looks like I'm gonna have to try the Earth armor. I'm normally a Water armor guy.
It's funny, given some of the comments, how shooter fans like to criticize Lords of Thunder for being too easy. :P
Earth Armor's powered up lofting blasts are by far the best weapon and way overpowered. It takes a bit of getting used to, as does the game in general, but once you adjust to playing around its shots, you'll takes anything down in seconds.
If that fails, there's always this classic strategy guide, which is generally agreed upon to be the best:

Dude you gotta make a vid next time, I gotta see your techniques
Nice guys! I tried pausing near the end last year when trying for a score, but if you don't do it in time it will not let you pause at all, then roll the ending. It's nice to know that the score keeps when the demo goes. I never knew that and I had the game since launch! That is why I love these threads! Now go post your scores in the official high score thread. We need to keep that stuff updated! I love the competition!

the high score thread that will never get updated by our awesome admin
Nice score Nulltard! I didn't have a chance to play this weekend yet but I'll be aiming for your score during my next play-through.
I used the fire armor on my last play-through. I like the fire armor since it seems to have a good balance of range and power.
The water armor has the best range, front and back and seems fairly powerful. However, as SamIAm mentioned, I didn't like how it kills enemies from the left side quickly and those crystals dropped are not able to be collected. A good screen clearing weapon when powered up.
Earth is really strong with a short range; it almost seems too strong when fully powered. Good for the tighter/close areas and bosses.
The wind armor I've spent the least amount of time with. Decent range but seems very weak. I remember getting overwhelmed when the screen gets full of enemies. Is the wind armor anyone's choice weapon to use?
I alternate my armor. I usually start with fire, then earth, water, and wind. Wind and water are kinda weak but makes for a nice challenge. For high score I'm sure most just use earth.
Punk! Even though the main post isn't updated you can still post scores there for all to see. So, that's better than nothing till NecroPhile becomes a mod in the next 5 years or so. Then, he'll have it all updated I'm sure. O:)
Sharing is caring.

/me laughs maniacally to conceal the fact that he is crying inside... might not have another killer LoT run left in him.
lol...thanks for the kind words, I think. Your score motivated me to do better, so basically I'm returning the favor. So keep it up.
Unfortunately I don't want to be the bearer of bad news for you, but 300 crystals (cost of 3 bombs) doesn't equate to 300K points at the end.
Damn nice scores up in here....
Did another play-thought today and did fairly well. One tip that 'geise' mentioned in the high score thread is to try and collect the power ups when your maxed out. Each power up will give 500 point when maxed. Also, I get the additional shield in the shop for later levels to stay maxed and to offset the unavoidable 1 or 2 hits.
Outstanding game that doesn't seem to get old after playing though it a number of times. Maybe I'll try the harder levels.

Hell yeah! Nice score! When things settle down and I have time, I need to do some high score runs.
Quote from: guest on 04/22/2014, 08:44 PMIndeed! I think csgx1 is the king of shooters around here. I'm trying real hard to catch up, but every time I'm close, I fuck up and get beat down by little pissant enemies on the last level, then a mini boss finishes me off. Was set to face zaggart with 11,000 crystals in tow just now when I got squashed 3/4 of the way through the dark tower level. Grrr....
Thanks, but I'm not even close to being any sort of king around here. I probably just have more time to play games than most people. Besides, if I was a "king of shooters", I should be able to at least beat level 4 in Rayxanber II. Not the case and I haven't come close. Let me just say, I've attempted level 4 more than 100 times, reached the boss once and failed miserably every time.
I'm sure that thumb blister is impeding your performance. Take a rest man and let your thumb heal up. :)
Also, the crystal counter maxes out at 10k.
I can't seem to stop myself from playing this awesome game! Tried it on hard and it's definitely more challenging with a lot more enemies and bullets. Bosses shoot more projectiles. Easier to rack up a higher score off of more enemies, but it's also a lot more hectic.
I would have hit 2.5 mil if I didn't spend 200 crystals for some health.

Head banging to one of the greatest Shmup games of all time right as I type !!!
I love it but im really not very good at it, I love shooters but just cant click with this one it continually smashed me to pieces but that in itself is still fun.
