I just realized that I posted in an old WTB thread...which I didn´t notice until now. So I am re-posting this here, as it actually belongs into a discussion thread:
I know that many have issues with no reception on the receiver with the controller pointed slightly off the center (as happens during gameplay, I can tell). So I thought of soldering in another 2 IR LEDs (they´re already 2 in there, 1 pointing up, one down) to broaden the sender-side transmission area :D
I noticed that they are lavender colored and wondered what wavelenght they would cover, since there are different types available. I know that the camera of my cell phone can show me the "active" signal.
Has someone of the top-grade modders a hint which type to buy? thesteve? turbokon? Someone else maybe?
Quote from: guest on 05/13/2014, 01:57 PMI'm far from a top-grade modder, and I have no idea what type of IR LED you'd need... but I've had some success with flakey remote controls before by using the shinier side of aluminum foil behind/around the leds (kind of the same principle of the reflective backing in flashlights). Might be worth a try.
I get your point, but I am afraid that I will short them with aluminium foil. Unlike in TV remotes, the LED contacts are sticking out directly and naked from the pcb, so "sneaking" them in will make electrical contact...

Naaaaah....that would look nasty.
I am looking for the * perfect * solution, since its a perfect console in itself....just missing...minor adjustments
