I regularly have these briefcase setups for sale which include 1 controller, Super CD 3.0 system card, Power cable, and AV cable. Price for this would be $220 plus shipping. All CD drives have new gearing installed as well as other regular maintenance done to them. I also have some that come with Core Grafx systems instead of a white PCE. Will give a $20 discount if you don't need a controller. I can also give a $20 discount if the Super System CD card is not needed. This would be true for those of you who plan to use your Turboeverdrive as the system card.
I also have refurbished PC engine DUOs on hand for sale as well but not as often.
A regular PC Engine DUO base price is $215. All Duos I sell are completely recapped and include an AV cable, and power cable. NO CONTROLLER INCLUDED in this price. I can however add one for an extra $20.
I can add other modifications to these as needed
S-Video $29
Region switch $55 or $65 depending on the type of system being modified.
RGB Mod $65. Does not include scart cable. $20 extra for a cable.
Component video modification
Led modifications
Also, if money is an issue I sometimes have DUO systems missing a hu card cover or PC engine CD setups missing the briefcase lid in which case I'd discount.

Even though I re-whiten these systems I have not been able to get some of the CD drives to be quite as white as the pc engines themselves but they are very very close.
Very nice price. Do you have taps and how much more for one and a second controller?
I've purchased from Keith Courage in the past and was very happy with the purchases. I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately I don't have any spare controllers or taps. It always seems to be difficult to find controllers for PCE systems at a good price and I only have enough for each system I am selling at the moment.
Argh where was this earlier this week, lol. Great stuff man, if I did not just buy a Duo-R I would be all over this.

I would too, I have a piece he worked on. And after the free help early on here, this is one I would trust.
Unfortunate about the taps, I see them on the bay from time to time and for a good price, but, coming from Japan or other far away places is killer and a lot more chance for damage in transit.
Do you happen to have any loose IFU units? Specifically because I'm looking to have a clean/white/unscratched one modded for S-Video or Component. Also, how about drives?

Someone on here is selling some controllers and taps I'm pretty sure. I know I just recently bought a Tap and 3 controllers with Bomberman.
Otherwise I'm sure something will pop up here.

I do have some separate white CD drives I can sell but I don't have any spare IFUs.
KC is a top-notch seller, I purchased a briefcase setup from him last year.
Do you have the facility to mod for rgb scart?
sure, I do RGB modifications now.
Ok no worries
KC, here was a guy at Racketboy inquiring about the PC Engine, so I filled him in some and mentioned you were selling some deals over here. Maybe he'll drop by and inquire.

Meant to post this earlier but got a little busy.
Got a briefcase setup from Keith this past weekend. Everything works exactly as advertised. He even retrobrited the console for a little extra, and the system looks great.

Thanks so much!
I too just recently got a briefcase setup from Keith, and it's great. Excellent guy. It works like a charm. Thanks again Keith Courage. :D

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I am backed up by 5 days or so right now with getting systems ready for people but rest assured I have them and plan to continue doing this as a side hobby.

Still available?
Yes, I have a number of these + a few DUOs :)
I can attest to the quality work that Keith Courage does. Recently got a briefcase setup with svideo and region mod and everything works and looks fantastic.
I have a PC engine DUO for sale. All the capacitors have been replaced so it now works great. I am asking $190 since the unit is a little more scratched up than others I normally sell.
SOLD!!!!!!!!
Can the briefcase units be region modded?
Phillip
yes they can :)
Just wanted to post positive feedback for Mr. Keith Courage.
Bought one of his PCE Briefcase systems, and man, he does great work on these consoles!
The community certainly benefits from having him!

Well I received my unit and it works great thanks a lot
Also would like to mention that when I got to the box it was soaked because it happened to be raining and the box was nearly falling apart. However because of the great packaging everything was fine thanks again

Hi everyone
I'm new so this is my first post but just wanted everyone to know received one of Keith's Briefcase setups today and wow wow wow!, looks and plays absolutely perfect and a pleasure to deal with.
Keith Courage supplied me with a Duo-R with region switch, great deal.
I was thinking, because I love old hardware so much, of replacing my DUO-RX with a briefcase setup. It's just such a beautiful 80s looking piece of hardware. If the gears are replaced in the CD-ROM2, am I going to sacrifice reliability at all in switching? Is this stupid of me? I realize the DUO-RX is typically worth more money, but mine didn't cost me all that much, so I would be losing nothing.

I'd have to sell the RX to get the other, my financial predilections do not allow me to justify the purchase otherwise. :-k
The DUO-R/RX has proven to be very reliable. However, with new gearing, caps, and regular maintenance done to it I wouldn't see why a briefcase setup would be any less reliable. Then again, the DUO-R systems are at least 5 years newer as well so maybe in the long run a DUO-R may last 5 years longer? Who knows for sure.

Thanks. I'm considering it. I've seen 37 year old Ataris still functioning, so I think it's really just a matter of keeping them maintained. If i'm in the market for it, you'll be the first I go to.
I just want to say that I'm glad you are keeping some of these older units in good working condition and on the market. The more of these we keep alive, the longer our hobby can persist.
I have 1 briefcase setup, DUO, and DUO-R ready for sale if anyone is interested.

What is the problem with the IFU setup? Is it just the CD-ROM? Sometimes the fix for this is extremely simple.

Oh, you misunderstood. I've already sold the IFU & CD-ROM, but kept the PCE. I'm looking for a Duo to replace it, as I want to get an arcade card & didn't want to have to pay through the noseholes for a Pro.
I nabbed a Duo from Mr. Courage and it works flawlessly. He also did a nice job with the re-cap. Good clean work at a great price. Thanks again!
I've got a DUO and two briefcase setups ready for sale if anyone is interested send me a pm. Prices are listed at the beginning of this thread.

Got my duo system today and its perfect!! Great seller!!
I too just received my PC Engine briefcase from Keith Courage and what is there to say? The thing is perfect. Looks great, works great, and was packed great.
I paid extra to have a region switch put in and the switch installation was done so neatly that it looks like the console was manufactured with it.
If you are thinking of getting one of these consoles, don't hesitate to deal with this seller. Top notch product. Thanks again!

It's time for me to get a Duo again, PM sent.
My PCE Duo arrived today. It works like a charm and is as clean as a whistle. It was packaged like a pro to boot. Super excited and enjoying Macross 2036 right now. Thanks man!
Ordered a DUO-R to him, waiting for the component video mod to be done.
Can't wait to play the system :D
I got the PC Engine Duo in today, I am very satisfied and it works flawlessly. You do excellent (and very clean) work. Thanks again!
Picked up my Duo last night & am playing it today, and I couldn't be happier. ^-^
Keith Courage, do accept hardware sent to you for repairs/mods?
My Duo-R's multi-out is badly loose and the CD drive is starting to show signs of age (it just locked up the system on me during Dragon Knight III's ending sequence the other day). I also might consider a component mod, but I'm mostly looking to get it back into healthy shape.
Yes, I also take on most repairs such as recapping, cd drive adjustment/repair, mods etc..... Feel free to send me a pm.
System is sold to save2600.
however, I do happen to have some other complete CD briefcase setups and standard Japanese duo systems on hand that I just haven't finished cleaning up / doing general maintenance to yet. so if anyone else is looking for something else feel free to send me a message.
System has an upgraded S-video port installed as well as having general maintenance done to the CD drive with new gears etc... Will include one controller, AV cable, Power cable, and Super system 3.0 Card.

full price and....
and how much would shipping be to London UK? it doesn't necessarily have to be quick just get here in one piece and be trackable ?
Hey Keith, just wondering.
I got a guy that is looking to get a PC Engine. Do you do trades at all? He's looking to trade a fair bit of N64 and Genesis stuff. Figured I'd recommend you since I was so happy with my purchase come you (and still am). Just wanted to know if trades were an option for you though.
Unfortunately I'm not really in the market for any other game stuff right now. In fact, I really need to start downsizing a little.
That's cool man. Just figured I'd ask. Thanks for letting me know.
Do you still have some brief case FS?
Sure do. Just sent a PM.
Got it today and testing it out. Thanks man

Is it possible to mod a PC Engine for video and power out of the back of the console?
Yes, it's possible. Would have to just mount an extra set of jacks on the rear.
Honestly it's a little easier to do with a DUO though since the power jack is already on the rear.
Hi, New PC Engine owner here,
How much would it be for a cd-rom and briefcase unit to be shipped to the UK?
I'm not after a PC engine, as I've just got hold of an RGB modded one.
Cosmetic condition not an issue, just as long as it works.
Cheers,
Graham.

I have the excellent Duo R you did for me... but I'm gradually thinking it would be super cool to have an original white PCE, but I'd want it to have the hook ups out the back. If it was modded this way would it break potential compatibility with the CD-ROM?
No issues at all if RCA jacks were to be added to the rear of the IFU.
You got PM.

Looking for a CD-ROM2 system. Been playing the auction game on Ebay to no avail lately. I'm willing to fix one but working is preferred. Do you have any available currently and if so how much are you asking shipped within the US?
same prices that are listed at the very first page of this thread plus shipping.
I also have a few duo systems that are missing a door cover or a few briefcase that are missing the lid that I would sell for an extra $25 off.
I didn't see any individual prices in the OP. Only a price for a full set-up.
Also damn I should have came here and bought from you to begin with for the full set-up, would have been less. :/
Sorry, I don't have any spare pc engine consoles or separate CD drives for sale at the moment. Only complete system+CD setups and DUOs.

Just wanted to say that I picked up my modded PC Engine Duo from the post office over the weekend. I had tested a bunch of old games I had lying around the house that my brother had and everything works great!! Thanks Keith for the great work on the system! Fighting Street works great and I suck ass at this game! Ninja Gaiden and Sidearms are keeping me occupied!! Now all I need is another controller and a Duo Tap!
I sent you a message but I do not know if it was received.
Got my system shipped all the way to me from Alpha Zones and happy to report everything is working great. KC installed a region mod and it's able to play both PC Engine and Turbo games flawlessly. Super happy to finally be a Duo owner and it's nice having the peace of mind that the system has been cleaned, calibrated and capped to perfection. Highly recommended.

I see, thanks for the update.
Right now, I've just got my American Turbografx-16, so I'm really excited to expand that library.

Question - Is the component mod worth it over s-video? I'm kind of a dumbdumb when it comes to retro shiz and video output.

In my opinion if you are using a CRT TV then I would go with S-video. Not saying that component doesn't look better than S-video. It's just that S-video is the best bang for the buck while keeping the colors looking the same as they do through regular composite. Also, component suffers from having very faint jail bars on solid colored backgrounds. So most games it isn't noticeable
Component and RGB I generally only recommend to people wanting to play the system on newer flat screen HD TVS. RGB is best for those wanting to use HDMI since good RGB scart to HDMI converters can be found for around $40 now days.
I don't know if there are any comparison pics, but NEC composite video is quite clean and high quality.

Can you do an S-Video mod for a Briefcase setup? I had read only component or RGB was possible.
If so I'd be interested as I was able to pick up an IFU to mod.
Unfortunately S-video has to be installed in the system itself not the IFU. So if you already own a system I can add s-video to that.

Can you get S-Video for CD-ROM games connected through an IFU setup? Like S-Video straight out of the PCE or the CD-ROM unit itself? Or just not possible with that type of setup?
Yes video for all games will come out the system with the s-video mod. Including CD games. Audio would still need to be used from the IFU RCA jacks to have audio for both types of games.

Picked up a PCE Duo from Keith recently, arrived in beautiful shape and running smoothly. Couldn't be more pleased!
Never mind, I have a few more controllers on hand now.
Quote from: Keith Courage on 11/24/2015, 06:11 PMI am currently out of controllers for the PC Engine DUO systems and I am not sure when I will be receiving more. So I will be offering a $25 discount for any DUO purchased.

Keith, just saw this, is this going to apply to the one you're working on for me or no?
A region modded and recapped PCE Duo arrived safely and well packed today from Alpha Zones! Everything looks great and I've tested it with some CD games, TG16 games, and PCE games with no issues. The only problem I had was with my Turbo Everdrive v2.1 but I really can't say this as a negative against the system I received given what we know about these drives; just mentioning this for those who have this version. All in all I am very happy with this and haven't done much but play it since it arrived! Thanks again!
Glad it got to you safely. I know the region mods I install will work with version 1 everdrives without any issues. I have yet to do any testing with any newer models. Hopefully the issues you are having have been taken care of with the newer version 2.4 everdrive.

It really does. I never owned a Duo before and when I got the pictures of the one he worked on for me I first found myself wondering why they made these with two power switches. :]
I bought a recapped PC Engine Duo from Keith Courage recently, and it was an amazing experience. His communication was great, and he answered my many questions, packed everything super carefully, and delivered an amazing product. An absolute pleasure.
Got my S-video/composite to the back/region modded duo recently as well. Works great, Keith kept me fully informed throughout, and it was packed like a champ (took forever to get here but that was the USPSs fault, NOT Keith's!)
Also can echo the comments on the mods.....they look like they came from the factory.
Just got my TurboExpress modded with a 3.5" screen by Keith and I have to say he did an amazing job. I can finally read some of the text in games using my Express. I'm pretty sure it improved the battery too since I played it quite a bit last night.
As others have said the work looks very professional and I highly recommend him.
Still Briefcases available? I sent a PM.
Yes, sorry I was slow to respond. My holiday weekend was busy. Reply sent.
I was wondering if you had any Duo's still.
Next month i'll be getting some extra cash and since I have so many consoles i'm already working on restoring; I was hoping to buy one that's actually all finished and ready to play region free.
I was hoping to buy a RGB modded, region switch enabled PCEngine duo that's been recapped or an R/RX that's been checked inside/out and running fine.
Yes, i know..what a greedy so and so, he wants it all done for him..lol. Again, I'm so busy with Xbox mods/upgrades for friends and trying to get my Fairchild Cannel F up and running (and more) that i'm being lazy this one time.
Since I've never been able to own a Turbographx or PCengine i'm a little out of my realm anyway and someone at AssemblerGames said you were "the man" when it came to these wonderful consoles so I thought i'd check and see. Appreciate your time

I also asked someone else on the neogeo forums about it and what to do and they just said yeah sometimes it takes a while....Im not whiner, I just didnt know what else to do after all that time.

Is having to wait a day or two really that big of a hardship?

I feel like, somehow, there has been something you weren't doing right in order for it to take that long. NecroPhile does stuff.

That response was to Punch's assertion that there's something wrong with the registration process here, implying that it still takes months to get approved. Since being made a mod about 18 months ago, all new registrations are approved daily during the week, making most registrations approved within 24 hours and the longest waits being if someone registers on a Friday evening and isn't approved until Monday morning.
Like I said in your intro post, the problem with your registration was almost certainly on your end, with the activation email ending up in your spam folder or you using an invalid email account. The only time when it might've been a problem here was if all four of your previous registrations were between 12/14/14 and 01/06/15, a time when the registration was overrun with spam bots; it was averaging over 100 spambot registries a day, and with no easy way to separate the four or five legitimate registrations from the garbage, they all got deleted.
Keith, I've pm'ed you about a system. I also meant to ask if you would be up to recapping my Express if sent to you. It needs it.
Thanks!

Ah, that sucks, so the registration page didn't have good Captcha features to block that shit... And now because of how crazy/excessive spambots have gotten for so many years, you got Captcha systems in place as soon as you hit a website and multiple verification techniques are used like showing you images or videos, asking you to pick out which ones have a sign in it or not, etc.!!!
Hey I dropped ya a PM KC to look into getting my briefcase setup modded. Let me know if you're taking on any work at all. Got to get this thing RGB modded for my new PVM as soon as I can hah. :D

No worries I can only guess how hectic it gets for you. I've replied back so we can get this show on the road.
Well, I must say I'm surprised. I'm surprised because I bought a Duo-R from Keith last week towards the end of the week, Friday I think, and that thing wound up on my front porch today. Wow! I've never had a PCengine anything before and I must say, I'm floored. Keiths workmanship is absolutely amazing. When other people say it looks factory, it's the absolute truth. Since selling my last set up a few years ago, I have 2 games left to play, Keith Courage and Bonk 3. I've done nothing but play them all afternoon.
Thanks Keith!
hey KC I sent you one last message before I send everything out tomorrow to you. :D
Final spec PM sent!
EDIT
I don't know of you got my PM Keith, for some reason not showing up in my sent items folder. Tried a couple of times. Sorry if you did and your inbox is spammed.
you don't happen to have any IFU-30's with RGB mods do you?
I don't have any finished with that right now but should shortly. I've been a little back logged getting these ready. there is a short waiting list. there is a short waiting list.

That he does. I got my Duo-R from him and I love it. I was so impressed that I sent him my Express to recap. His work is fantastic.
I just wanted to come and give praise to Keith Courage, my briefcase set up with RGB mod is superb and I love it!. Thanks for answering all my questions along the way!

This is more of an update question, but are you now able to wire briefcase setups for JPN-21 pin RGB (compatible with xRGB Mini Framemisters)?
Sure, I don't see why I couldn't just re-wire the scart cable like this.
However, most people I've dealt with use a Euro style connectors for their framemeister. Also, I could even make a cable that goes directly from the system to the framemeister. Meaning no scart junction needed in between.
Just dropped a pm about a Cdrom unit.
Mine is at o'hare airport! Can't wait.
Edit: the duo has landed. Tested a bit of ys quickly. Picture quality is amazing. Much better than the briefcase I had. Duo is very quiet too. Much impressed.
Thanks Keith!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160418/0e6b650db3b2a7be75682adf13734039.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160418/29070011413ca688ffcca562c7da709b.jpg)
Received my duo yesterday from KC and played it all night. Picture and sound is great with CD's and Hue Cards even with the regular composite out. System looks and plays great. Highly recommend KC for the systems!
Keith, not sure if you heard it, but you got a small shout out on a recent retronaughts podcast.

I did not know. That's fantastic!!!
Looking for a good working, untouched unmodded PC Engine IFU-30 CD-ROM 2. With everything intact CDROM and Hucard reader cables , controllers and system card or arcade pro card. Message me with pictures!

Which connection did you use with both models? There is a difference in picture quality between various pc engine models? I was thinking that all is the same using the same cable (RGB X RGB = the same quality).

I mean it's had a better refurb job done on it. My old briefcase had some (but not much) interference on it, especially on a dark loading screen but this duo from KC has no such problem. There will also be differences in the quality of the rgb mod as there are several methods, some better than others.
My RGB modded Duo arrived from Keith on Friday. It was very clean, quiet and works great! It was an absolute pleasure to deal with such a knowledgeable and honest seller. He even refunded part of my shipping cost, as it was less than expected. All of my questions and concerns were quickly addressed. I could not be more pleased. Thanks for an excellent buying experience, I am extremely grateful. =D>
I posted on his Facebook page but forgot to here. A few weeks back Keith rgb modded, recapped, and fixed the laser issues I was having on my Duo. He was awesome about keeping me updated, and making sure everything was working perfectly. He did an amazing job and the system looks unbelievable in RGB. Keith did an amazing job, can't thank him enough!
Quote from: gheebee on 11/30/2015, 04:14 PMThe only problem I had was with my Turbo Everdrive v2.1 but I really can't say this as a negative against the system I received given what we know about these drives; just mentioning this for those who have this version.
Just figured I'd mention that what I say here is no longer the case. Keith recently installed a S-Video mod in my Duo and while he was at it he applied his region mod fix for Everdrives and now my v2.1 is working just fine! I wasn't expecting this but it is much appreciated and the fact that he just did it speaks volumes to the level of service you get when you deal with him. Thanks again! The S-Video mod is looking great too!

I wanted to thank Keith as well,
My Region and RGB modded Duo arrived a few days ago from Keith and I couldn't be happier. I've played some US cards & both Japanese/US CD's. They all worked great and looked amazing through the Scart cable!
Thanks again.

Will you have any duos up for sale in the near future I was planning on buying one already modded for RGB.
Yes I have some for sale. I'm about a week backed up on getting these ready for people but I do have them. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I haven't been checking the sales threads lately. PM Sent.
I sent Keith my briefcase S-video setup I bought from him a few years back to get RGB upgraded. Of course he does amazing work, and of course my PCE games have never looked so good. :) Thanks again Keith! Everyone send this man your business. You won't be disappointed.
Just thought I'd post a pic of my latest cleaned/re-whitened system to entice anyone else who may be interested. CD drive has new gearing as well as having other general maintenance done. Upgraded S-video port installed as well. This particular setup is already spoken for but I have more on hand. I'm about a week and a half backed up on getting more of these ready. I have some DUOs on hand as well.

Hi Keith,
I'm interested in the IFU system. Going to send you a PM now with some questions.
Systems look great as usual Keith. I recently picked one up from you and was amazed how white it was. Also plays great as expected. Keep your eyes open for any Turbo DUO or Super CDRom-2 systems for me.
Thanks.
Just giving this thread a bump. I have a RGB modded PC Engine duo, Coregrafx II with Super CD-rom2 drive, and a complete PC Engine CD setup ready to go if anyone is interested.
Looking for something sort of specific and some advice. I sent you a PM. Thanks!

yes sir I do, reply sent.
Just wanted to leave a comment saying I bought a system from Keith Courage and he was great to work with and the console was packed very well. Thanks!
Bought a Turbo Duo from Keith in the last year and the whole process was smooth. The guy is amazing. Thanks for everything!
Good sir, you got any PC Engines left?
Sorry just saw this. Yes, a good number of systems here.
