Title: TE Sound Fix Really Abnormal Situation
Post by: Slypty on 06/04/2014, 10:39 AM
OK, So as per recommended, I've swapped out my Caps for the Sound, actually did a complete overhaul.  System works great, but NO SOUND.

The thing is, if I plug in a headphone I get sound.  Does that mean the Cap job I've done is OK, and there's an internal problem, possibly amp related?

I know it's not the Speaker, because I've swapped with a good working one.  Any help with whether the Caps for the Headphone out are the same as what would be used for the Speaker, if they both run off the same amp, etc. might help me out a bit.  Thanks!

The switch on the earphone jack is broken.  The earphone jack has a switch that disengage the sound to the speaker once earphone is plugged in.  The switch pin in the jack that complete the circuit to speaker is broken.  Trying jumping.

Thanks, I'll give this a try and give an update.  Nice tip.  Pin 2-3 or 1-2 I think?

I'm not sure, I can post a picture of what pins to jump later this evening.

You should get continuity for the top two pins when earphone is not plugged in.

Thanks so much, I've had horrible luck with my tools this week.. crapped out solder iron and continuity tester, so it's off to the trinket market tomorrow to pick up some replacements.

So I tested for continuity on the top two pins (the two pins between CN500 and L103) and I was not getting any continuity.

I bridged their solder joints, and I got continuity again.  But, I powered it on and I'm still getting no Sound.  Not sure what to do now.

I think you also need to do the bottom 2 pins of the row of 3 pins as the switch controls those also
