Title: Another awkward introduction thread...
Post by: johnnymad on 07/24/2014, 11:23 PM
I want to go ahead and introduce myself before I start posting too much. I'm johnnymad and I'm from Louisiana. I'm new to the site and I'm really enjoying it. There's lots of information here and I see myself learning a lot. I'm a big NES collector and have been into the Turbografx for a couple years now. Always wanted a Turbografx as a kid but I don't know if I ever even saw one in these parts.

I now have a TG-16 that I region modded, a DUO, a PC Engine DUO that needs a little love and about 20 or so Hucards. I know about some good Hucard games but very little about CD games as I recently picked up each DUO. I need to pick one up to verify if my CD drive even works (suggestions on a cheap game to test it with would be appreciated). Will be browsing the forum to find out which ones you all recommend. Really glad my account was approved and look forward to being a part of the community.

You are actually in a rather envious position—there is literally an entire universe of awesome games to play (both HuCARD and CD).

Welcome, comrade.  :pcgs:

Welcome aboard!  If you want a CD game to test a drive, try It Came From the Desert; its fmv will give it a good workout.

Welcome buddy! An inexpensive cd game you might try is Magical Dinosaur Tour. It's not that great of a game though

Thanks for the warm welcome and tips on games. I think I'm just going to eventually try and track down a copy of Gate of Thunder. That one seems to be a consensus good game and the fact that it has multiple games on the disc is a bonus.

Yarr, ya can't go wrong with GoT.  You shouldn't have too hard of a time scoring one for $50 or less, which is almost a bargain considering you get four fantastic games.

Welcome to Pcenginefx!

I agree with Necromancer, go for the GOT 4-in-1 disk, all 4 games are great!

Welcome aboard !

Thanks NecroPhile as you answered a question before I asked it. Looking for that same 4in1, and was going to ask around to see what they go for from reasonable sellers.  If I stumble across one for $50, I'll be all over it like a fat kid on a smartie !

Thanks! There was a loose copy on eBay for $46 the other day. Didn't pick it up as I've been spending too much lately.

I am in the doghouse currently .. as we did a small trip to the US acouple weeks ago, and I went alittle crazy as found some consoles I was looking for.  There is currently a somewhat-local seller asking $70 cic.  I have an offer out for $60 as I can coordinate a nearby buddy to pickup for me.  I watched spida1a's Turbo Views review video for it .. just made me nostalgic and wanting it even more.

Not an expert, but considering the prices I've seen on eBay, that would be a good deal.

I meant to ask this before: is Louisiana a city or a county?

Both. It's a state too.
