Title: Your avatars and signatures?
Post by: Ninja Spirit on 06/25/2006, 08:34 PM
Just for fun, let's talk about our avs and sigs, tell exactly where we got them from. I know some of you guys have the Battle Royale character avs.

<<
My avatar: her name is Eden Riegel; I got quite a crush on her right now.

My signature: My drawing of YTMND's tag on Leeroy Jenkins, with Martin Lawrence/Black Knight instead of the WoW Paladin.

My avatar is from the ending sequence of Rude Breaker (https://www.vgmuseum.com/end/pc98/a/rudeb.htm). It's the only Compile shooter on the PC-98.

Ahhhh, so it's Eden Riegel. I was wondering who that was ;)

Clearly, I have THE EXECUTIONER from Battle Royale. Back in the day, my brother's friend got Battle Royale for Xmas. Of course, none of us could take it seriously, and we all felt bad that he got it for Xmas. Thankfully, he was also given Cadash. Not bad. Anyway, we actually had a lot of stupid-fun playing Battle Royale, despite it being a god-awful game. I still love the catch-phrases for each character.

B.R.A.W.L., baby.

The fact that my avatar has S & M undertones simply adds to its allure. But, the original cover art really isn't risque. I cleaned up all the avatars I made, to make them look more striking. It was only after I did this that The Executioner's essence revealed itself.

There are still three unclaimed avatars that folks can grab as avatars, if they'd like.

Battle Royal is far from being a bad game. It's a very fun, easy-to-play, and addicting game, so that certainly makes it a great game for me :D .

Anywho -- my avatar comes from Steve (thanks again, bud!) and is also from Battle Royale. It's for my personal favorite Battle Royale character, Spitefire Spike! Awesome character !!

I think Spike is the sharpest-looking avatar of the lot... everything is perfect.

And of course I love playing Battle Royale, but I was worried that I'd lose credibility by admitting it publicly, since I've already proclaimed my love for Rastan Saga II :)

Photoshop'd hucard with the logo from my free quarterly pdf mag (cough! http://www.multilinkmagazine.com)

When each issue is finished I often send out promotional copys on CDr. If only something closer to the hucard had been adopted on a wider basis, it would have been amazing to hand someone the hucard in the image instead.

Nope I am not Jarod =) This is actually my second Turbo Collection too. Had a TG16 w/ CD growing up, all the friends had the SNES and Genesis. Loved the system to death, grew up and went to college. Right before I left my mom wanted me to get rid of stuff in the house, sold the TG16 w/ CD and a shit ton of games for like 500 bucks. Yeah it hurts hard now, since some of the games I sold are worth easily 100 each now. I had more than 50 games with it. Couple years ago I started building my collection again, starting with the US Turbo Duo I lusted over when I was kid =) Side note, just won 4 Hu Cards on ebay woo hoo, Military Madness, Alien Crush, Space Harrier, and Blazing Lazers.

My avatar is much like the one td741 created.  I couldn't find the wrap-around chin strap style beard though, so I photoshopped it up a bit.  I also tailored the hair a bit.

I'm actually looking to put up something new though.  Maybe a piece of my artwork or something.  Word...

Also, i think i'm going to use the signature - "what a horrible night to have a curse.."  even though I think I've seen someone else with it.

Avatar : German national arms -- being of heavy german heritage it seemed logical, but I will most likely change it to something more gaming relevant, which will immediately make this post obsolete =)

Signature : "The weak will fall, the strong remain"  -- Always struck a good chord as a way to live life and keep rockin.  The line itself actually comes from a Scorpions song called "No Pain, No gain" released on their album "Face the Heat" (released 1993, track 2)

Of course you like the Scorpions :)

Anyway, I was surprised to see that they were still around in 1993. I don't think I've heard that album. Have you ever listened to the "Flying the Rainbow" album (I can't remember the title, but the cover has colorful fantasy pop art).

Anyway, even though it is quite different than their later stuff, it's a friggin' awesome album. Even folks who don't dig the Scorpions' popular singles should check out that album.

I've never actually heard that one. but i did a little research tho, and the cover defiently is in the 'fantasy zone'.  1974 release... is probably a little too behind what i like in ROCK.   But hey scorpions can do no wrong =)

Avatar: The PC-FX.  I choose this photo as it was one of the more rare professional shots of the unit with dramatic lighting.

Sig: First is the last banner I made for pcengine-fx.com.  I really like this design and have used it for a long time now.  If you can't tell, the background is an extreme close-up of the TG-16, heavily color corrected.  The characters to the right represent the PCE (Cotton), PC-FX (Rolfee) and TG-16 (Bonk).  Below that is my Xbox 360 Gamercard which you can see what I am currently playing in my spare time.

My avatar uses Kabuki's non-battle sprite with the spinning flaming Manji (or swastika if you're ignorant) background from the title screen of Tengai Makyou II.

Kabukiden will alawys be my favorite game and because of it, I love Tengai Makyou in general.

Black Tiger is of course the North American title of the greatest arcade game ever made, which of course was made by Capcom.

Hey Tatsujin I totally dig your new avatar!

/pceoi0.gif

Does anyone know what the American TGCD says in the LED? I have always assumed TG. When I first saw a PCE+CDROM2 displayed at a museum, I didn't know that the LED actually lit up "PC" when you played a game and I thought that was super rad!

As for my sig, well..if you don't know that scene in the picture, then prepare to die......again!

Keranu - The TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM says "PC" and is exactly like the picture you posted.  In fact I think the PC Engine CD-ROM and the TG-16 CD-ROM are the same player, only with a slightly different lid and, of course, the color.  I bet one unit would work on the other.  Wouldn't that rock to see a PC Engine or CoreGrafx with a black Turbo CD player sitting next to it?  Or a TG-16 with a white PC Engine CD-ROM sitting behind it?  Of course it would rock.

Anyway, my avatar is from the PC Engine title screen of Shinobi, the most popular game ever made (except for the other games that are even more popular, of course).  My signature is non-existent because I hate sigs.  I am glad that I can turn them off with this new forum software so I don't have to see all your guys' sigs!

TurboXray, it's the same for me when I see anyone else who happens to have a face somewhere in their avatars.   Let this be a word to the wise; don't pick an avatar that features a character with a retarded look on his face, or else I'll think you're just as witty.  It's hell when someone changes avatars.  It takes awhile to recognize them again, like Michael Jackson.

By the way, I assume Keranu is always struggling with a bowel movement.  :)

Another weird experience is when I get used to a person's avatar before playing the game that the avatar came from.  Once I finally play the game I'm like "Hey look it's so-and-so!  I hope he doesn't act like such a 'tard in this game!"

Ahh cool, thanks for clearing that up for me. Wouldn't it have totally rocked if the TGCD said TG on it instead though  ? Anyway, PCEngineHell on these boards told me before that you can use each region's CD player on the other region's hardware dock. I would like to get some pictures of any mixes if anyone has the equipment and time :) . Core Grafx + TGCD would look killer!

the only prob would be, that a "T" is difficult do show on a 7-segment display, same as well for the "G" :-k
Title: Re: Your avatars and signatures?
Post by: td741 on 11/09/2006, 10:18 AM
Well, the G would be a 6 without the middle segment.

The T would probably have the top segment and the segments down one side.  Not ideal though.

Your avatar is so small that I can't quite tell what's going on.  But then I drag the avatar to my desktop and open it up in Preview and it's much more clear (and large).  They're holding hands, not boobies!

Which FF2? Famicom FF2 or FF4?

Whoa, it's like a gothic version of Super Mario Bros.

Oh my god...Mario looks exactly like my boss from years back when I worked as a dishwasher at an Italian community center!

Sorry mate, the request came from me :( (and a friend of mine). I would've let you kept it and just continue ignoring it, but I prefer not to have that kind of stuff on a board like this, so I left it up to Aaron. No hard feelings, bro! :)

Np man i just thought... ppl would gawk at it or just disable sigs in profile.

Any ways, i all ways have plenty of wall paper to use as sigs.

So it didn't take long for me to change it.

Why not? If people want to spruce up their sig area, they can do whatever they want.  Gets people noticing.

I dunno. Ever visited one of those big message boards where everybody's got a huge and super ugly signature picture? It is ridiculous.

(Turns off the signatures)

Aaah, that's better.

I'm with Seldane about signature images, I generally prefer not to use them, but I usually don't mind others using them.

By the way Seldane, aren't YOU using two signature images on this board?

What? Where?

Haha, seriously though.. I think that's a bit different, as I'm promoting two websites, and that the pictures are small. Using large, random pictures doesn't make sense to me.  :)

I think I'll replace my two buttons with a large map of the world!

I completely agree.  Even text-only signatures drive me nuts since they offer nothing but clutter.  Thankfully the forum lets me turn of the viewing of other people's sigs.  I like avatars because they aren't actually in the post itself and are a great way to add personality + quickly identify who made the post.

If I don't like looking at a certain sig, I just ignore it and move on to the next post.  Besides, I like that pic of Dark Fact in the PC version. :)

I'm not a fan of Eternal's artwork, so I'll just imagine it's an old skool Dark Fact image :) .

I don't like those huge sigs that are larger than most posts. Mostly because, I don't think I've ever seen one even half way decent. Most I've seen look like really bad wallpapers and are often as big as a low res wallpaper.

Most could've been reworked to include the same images in a small banner type pic and they seem to be made by people with similar personality types...

Cute

Still my position on sigs is all ways been.. to try keep them at a decent size.

Beside not every body is on cable or dsl i can under stand 'why some get bent out of shape over it on dailup.

It's not fun when your trying to view the page on dailup, and it takes forever to load.  Becuse every body has pictures so big... they take up half the page.

I once made a "rebellious" signature - to get the admin to put some signature restrictions on that site. It was a 5000 x 2000 transparent GIF image. It stretched out every forum page like mad, and put a huuuge space between my posts and the other's. Just 1kB in size, but more annoying than anything of this world.

It worked. The admin thing, that is. No hard feelings either, just laughs.

Not particularly. I also removed it after a few hours - I was just trying to make a point, I didn't want to ruin things.  :)
