We're going to cease taking orders for this beast on 12/24.

Why?

Well it's something like:

1) It lets us wrap up all of the orders and have an idea of what kind of supplies we need.  This is important because:

2) It gives us more time to continue focusing on the next board + plastic idea.  We don't want to have a ton of extra crap from this design laying around doing nothing.

3) It gives us even more time to WRITE SOME FRIGGIN' GAMES.   Really, this is the most important part.


If there's some sort of crazed demand for more, maybe in the future we can make more, but I would not count on it until the new and improved board + plastic is done.

So, place an order if you haven't.


You don't pay til yours is ready to ship, so, you've got plenty of time on the money front.    I invoice you once yours is ready.   It's a bit of a slow going process since I'm doing all of that during my free time between working on games, and working at a real place.


There is a decent sized waiting list (still somewhere around 100 orders left to go).

I love playing the rom. But i can't wait to get an actual copy of the game so i can sift through the manual and bask in it's beauty. I'm anxiously, patiently waiting my turn in line :D I understand the process is probably very demanding.

Soooo 30 people (seriously 30, fucking 30?, really?).. didn't pay? It seems most likely the person responsible for customer order tracking screwed up making sure everyone was properly notified and confirmed their orders... considering 3 of the people that just responded today said they didn't get any invoice or email yet, and i doubt esteban, bernie or albtross (i don't know you but lets go with it!) would just sit here and make that up.

But regardless of whose fault it is and why this is batch had such a huge payment fail, wouldn't it make alot more sense for people to prepay for their pre-orders if they are serious about buying something? Then there's no bullshit involved, the company just ships out the product when it is ready to go.

I looked in PayPal, I did not see an invoice. Nor did I get an email. :(

But, I know everything will work out.

Arkhan was very generous for not billing until later...I had a tough time around the holidays, budget-wise, so I am very grateful.

I also picked up Pyramid Plunder, which I have needed for a long time (how long has it been out now?)

I do everything.  Me.  By myself.  All of the order tracking.

I didn't screw anything up.  PayPal sends an e-mail to the related e-mail address upon me sending you an invoice.   It's super easy to check your e-mail, or your PayPal, and see if there is an invoice.

Esteban, Bernie, and Albatross haven't been invoiced yet.    So, of course they haven't seen an e-mail.

I've sent numerous reminder e-mails to people (PayPal even has a button for this), numerous news posts (some of which were liked on Facebook by people who haven't paid...)... so...

No, this makes absolutely zero sense, because then I am sitting on people's money while the items are being manufactured, and I do not want to be caught in a situation where something comes up and I have handfuls of pissed off people wondering where their game is because we're waiting on jewel cases, or for spools of plastic to be back in stock.

And thank you so much for this.  Preordering the Pier Solar reprint from Watermelon over a year ago has been a terrible experience.  One that has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I will never again spend my money on anything with their name attached to it. 

I'm glad some people get it.

Yeah, that's kinda how preordering works. People pay you, you pay your vendors, get your goods and ship, then pocket the profit. Kinda been working that way for centuries. Everyone knows there's delays its common place and shouldn't even be an issue. I mean look at crowdfunding, it has basically guaranteed everyone knows if you prepay for something now days your getting that shit laaate!

Although i'd hate to be holding product and stuck waiting for money. I picked up Atlantean in the first go round (fantastic game btw). I know Arkhan was busy getting those orders ready for shipping and I decided to buy either PP or Insanity. He got my additional order out immediately.

I'm not sure what happened but it's not the norm based on my experience.

Got mine in the mail yesterday as well.  Just in time for spring break.

I got my copy of Atlantean in the mail yesterday, and I am very pleased! The game is engaging and exciting, but balls-out hard. I typically last less than five minutes. On Easy. With lives and bombs maxed. On my best game, I only managed to make it to the first boss. I'm too scared to see what the harder difficulties are like.

Despite the game making me its bitch repeatedly, I keep wanting to come back for more. You've created an outstanding product, Arkhan. Kudos is deserved and given. =D>

Once all the official orders are out and I make sure people's stuff isn't breaking in shipping/etc, there should be extras.

And...isn't it essentially Defender without the bosses & minefields?  The more I think about it, the less I mind...Defender is better than, say, Berzerk or Pac-Man.

Yes seriously!  What's wrong with that?  It's pretty much how I decide all my game purchases.  Sometimes, only a moment out of the whole game will make it worthwhile to me & I haven't seen that moment yet in any of the previews.

I think it's great what Aetherbyte is doing but I don't have the money to throw around just because I want to support the homebrew community (which I do).  I have to actually want the game. 

I probably will follow Necro's suggestion & DL Santatlantean, so I can get an idea of what the gameplay is like.

I really wish I could have gotten a smoother framerate for the game overall, but it's just not really a thing that you can do with Atlantean on the PCE.

Between the 7 scrollies, the radar, and having to track everything including off-screen stuff, while having the UFOs look for the people, it's like "nope!"


I was upset about it until I played LDis and was like wait this has slowdown too, I AM OK.

Any plans for other games in the future?

I'm pretty sure I have recorded some gameplay of it as well, but it was back when I was really bad (ie couldn't even make it to the first boss bad!) so I never uploaded it.  If I think about it, I'll either post that or record some new footage over the weekend.
