I'm just barely in the Gold Circle. Have Meteor Blaster DX and Revival Chase. I preordered that second batch of Mysterious Song and I bought the Atlantean Rom (waiting for my turn in line on that one). This thread reminds me to get on supporting others by getting the other games too.

I messaged one guy about there being a re-issue coming and provided him with a link to the pre-order. He actually lowered his auction price and I think he even apologized. lol

I have all eleven of the homebrew games listed, even the repress of Mysterious Song (test disc). I also have a booty Sapphire, but I won't pay big monies for crappy CDRs or buy box sets of games I don't want.
I have no homebrew games. I wouldn't mind having booties of Sapphire and Kaze Kiri, nobody's yet made a homebrew game that piques my interest. Atlantean got really close, but still no cigar.
I bought all the official hombrew physical releases, but did not pay for (multiple copies of) Mysterious Song.
I bought an autographed copy of the cdr Meteor Blaster DX and a copy of the pressed version. Since Implode was only $5 more, I have a second sealed(!) copy.
I bought all of the everanime bootlegs short of the ridiculous "Turbo" set, in order to document them. I did not pay the original asking prices of the pre-box set bootlegs.
I do not know if this makes me a collectard.

This is why everanime/Hudson Soft/PCE Works makes a crap load of money off of flipping bootlegs and homebrewers take a loss for their time/work and resources.

I joke but I'm also serious. Homebrewers deserve way more money for their efforts and I see no harm of doing that, LE for the VAG'ers and regular, never out-of-print copies for the obeyers.
I have no problem with homebrewers, and I definitely believe they deserve to get money more than bootleggers...

But in all seriousness, if I had the disposable to drop on things on principle alone I'd buy a copy of every new homebrew game, but as it stands, I need to save for the games I actually want to play & with a couple exceptions (HuZero looks promising) there has yet to be a homebrew game I want to play as badly as original ones.
I've not seen a homebrew that makes me want to play it more than deep blue or tv sports football. Give me a side scrolling beat 'em up like Legendary Axe II. Until then, I don't have crazy money to throw at a trinket to collect dust on my shelf just for the sake of having it.

whoa..... then you certainly have "not" been paying much attention. MSR was badass for what it is, and for as simple as it is, Insanity and PP are excellent additions to any turbob library. Implode is the only MindRec game I can actually say I enjoyed though.
Pyramid Plunder is as fun as games get and much more than most commercially published games.

I can relate to some extent. The thing is, indie developers have to start somewhere to get their chops up. If we care about keeping the TG16 alive, we need to support them. The less un-profitable it is for them to develop games, the more they'll make and the sooner they'll get to your side-scrolling brawlers.
While not every homebrew has been a home run, it sounds like you haven't given them a chance. Have you
played Atlantean? It's freaking awesome. Like a cross between Air Zonk and Galaga '90. IMO, it really feels like a first-party release, albeit a remake of a classic game. Pyramid Plunder is solid and almost as close. Revival Chase is interesting and multiplayer. Mysterious Song may be a Dragon Warrior clone grounded in 8-bit style, but it's a fun romp with nice visuals. Hypernova Blast and Insanity are rough around the edges, but still get play time when I'm in the mood for a simple game with solid play control. I own 25+ official titles that see way less play time than these games.
Finally, with the possible exception of Atlantean, none of these games are "crazy expensive." They're all a paltry $10-40. You can get all three Mindrec releases for $50 (http://hypernovablast.com/store.php). The last copies of Mysterious Song went on clearance for $12.
Anyway, I was inspired to make this poll because of the endless queries in the development forum: "Any news on Bubble Bobble?" "Any news on Lucretia?" "Any news on Xymati?" The answer to all of these questions is BUY MORE HOMEBREW.
And I'm still the only one sitting at the 12+ advanced collectard shortbus level. Suck my IllustBooster, bitches! :mrgreen:

LOL. Sapphire doesn't count. Most of us either bought it in '05 thinking it was an original or got it later from BlueBMW for free. And it was before Fudoh stole Megaman off Bonknuts.

8 here for me, though that does count Atlantean which I don't have yet. Been on Arkhan's waiting list for months, patiently waiting to send him my monies.
Turbo homebrewers are actually the only homebrewers I support, and I'll continue to do so as long as me and my Duo keep tickin'.
Lucretia looks great. Bubble Bobble I could probably get into, even in it's simplicity. And I agree, game devs have to cut their teeth somehow, and I'd love to support them if someone would make a good action platformer, beat em up/hack & slash, or scrolling shmup. Atlantean is soooo very close to what I want, so I'm hoping the next thing from Aetherbyte will blow my socks right off & my cash right out of my wallet, especially if it comes out on hucard.

I'd like to pipe in, here. I've met Arkhan, and I really support what he and the other homebrew devs are trying to accomplish. I've played Atlantean, Pyramid Plunder, and the beta of Mysterious Song. I own a copy of Insanity. But none of these games really appeal to me all that much. It's not because they aren't good games and well-done. It's just that they aren't games that happen to hit at what I particularly enjoy playing. I may yet toss Arkhan $10 for the Atlantean ROM for my Everdrive once 2015 settles, but when you are a finicky gamer with limited financial resources, you pick your battles.
Besides, I want to support developers who want to make the kinds of games I want to play. Supporting Arkhan might help the homebrew scene, but it doesn't encourage him to make the kinds of games I enjoy. It encourages him to keep making the kinds of games he enjoys, which is really what he should be doing regardless.
Maybe we need to use Patreon funding around here to get stuff rolling. I think Bonknuts is probably the dev who is most likely to produce something that appeals to my particular tastes, be he's stuck working on his own until he has a finished product. Maybe Patreon could fix that.
I will buy a game, even if I have my doubts...just to support the community. I haven't been disappointed (surprisingly)!

I didn't realize there are so many homebrew games so far! The current pcengine-fx.com doesn't have a review section, but it would be great if the new supersite had a feature or game profiles on the homebrew games.
The homebrew stuff, I've just witnessed them getting better. They're not professional games, so I cut some slack. I support when I can, such as when I bought all of Arkhan's back catalogue in 2014.
As long as it progresses, and things get better, and I have money I desire to use toward , Donating/Purchasing, I'll go for it. So far, over the eyars, thigns are getting better, so...
I'd like to see a PCEFX RPG, turn based, or, "Neutopia" style. PCEFX handles for the friends, foes, etc. I'd.....

Turbo homebrew? Only two (Atlantean and Mysterious Song). I have twenty-one homebrew across all systems though (5 2600, 3 7800 including one multi-cart with several on there, 1 Lynx, 5 ColecoVision, and 5 Dreamcast, would have been 6 but I sold off Redux as being too shitty for the DC).
I've got four more booties I forgot about in the collectard cave: a Magical Chase chuey, a Megaman, and two "pc-game" multicarts. That's 17! A congratulatory self-fisting is in order.

Haha nah... one of the greatest things about homebrew is that we get to make the stuff
we like as opposed to bending over for a marketing staff. If we like it, chances are someone else will too. We are not motivated by profit but by creative freedom. If that means that our audience will be limited, so be it. If I personally was motivated by profit, I would not be developing for the PC Engine at all but for a more widespread console, like the Sega Genesis (or something modern, like the Playstation 4 or Xbox One).

Nothing will always be in stock forever, but Nod/Rover has shown that if there is interest in additional copies they can be pressed and released. He is light years ahead of WaterMelon with their bizarre preorder chicanery.
