Title: Item similar to the SLG3000, has anyone tried to build this?
Post by: PCEngineHell on 01/01/2015, 01:58 AM
Looks cheap to build as far as parts cost goes.

It's discussed more on this thread:

Might be interesting for mame use or for using in conjunction with composite/s-video to vga adapters, for old systems or laserdisc/vcr use. Anyway, discuss.

Happy new year, Prof! Could you please try reposting the NFG link? It seems to be broken. Or it is just broken at the moment due to NFG's forums being down temporarily, I have no idea. EDIT: Seems his whole website is down. Let's hope it will be up and running again soon.

I don't have SLG3000 but SLG Scart

It's not many components in that PCB...

Interesting, but not many of us use scart...

True, but it's basically the same, same Circuit used to create the scanlines.

I will probably buy the SLG3000 in a near future to use on the Dreamcast.

the circuit is simple and should work
note that only 1 of the chips is needed, as 3 transistors will cover the work of the other

Does for me, seems pretty easy to build and on the cheap...

missing is the pot, it might sound useless but as I see when I use the SLG Scart, full is nearly to much so it's nice to back some, or just have a little on sometimes.

If you build it and want to reinstall the potentiometer function adding this after it should do the trick.

I have a Mini SLG (http://craftymech.com/ (http://craftymech.com/)) and it was $30. Dunno how cheap the DIY has to be, but for the time and hassle, it was worth it for me. I use it in conjunction with a GBS8200 upscaler with acceptable results for most tasks but I also will throw it on a Naomi VGA out to make MvC2 or CvS2 look correct.
