Title: Should there be a database for mediocre platformers?
Post by: PukeSter on 05/25/2015, 09:16 PM
Shower thoughts I guess.

There were a lot of crappy and even downright okay platformers on SNES and even PCE.

However, maybe some people might like a game like Mr. Nutz. I do...

Without a website, nobody will know every single platformer that sucks. And that saddens me, I guess.

Some of these games take only an hour to beat. Like Wolfchild. Which sucks. Please try it.

Mr. Nutz was much better than games like Socket or Awesome Possum! Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt. I wouldn't call it mediocre.

I have never even heard of Socket! Unfortunately I don't like Sonic games too much. :(

This is why we need a database. To educate the masses about Socket.

There absolutely should be a database for this.
I would like to nominate IMPOSSAMOLE as the first entrant.  What an abysmal game that was.  [-(

It is better to assume that a game is mediocre until proven otherwise. There is a lot of junk out there.

I learned the hard way through years of Saturn gaming that the games most people raved about as cult classics or "good" games were in fact mediocre, lousy, or worse.

As for a database, just give the game a 2 star review on ebay/amazon or something so everyone knows what's up.
