I just got it from 16-Bit/carlson yesterday at the, Otakon 2006 convention.
Any body have thoughts on it compare to the MD/Genesis version?
I'm just curious what people think about it here.
I got it a while ago, never played the MD version but I can say I was disappointed to see it was only 1 player (just like tenchi wo kurau). ;'(
I love this game! I've completed it several times. I think it's the only game play through more than once. I like the CD music, sounds much better than the MD's chip tune, naturally. I was a little bit disappointed by the graphics, although they are crisper than on the Mega Drive. I think some levels are missing in the PCE version so the game is shorter. The scrolling isn't that smooth and the game flickers a lot.
But I like it anyway.
Yah the music is really what made me want to keep it heh.

Yeah i like it's sound track bummer it's missing the 2p though :?
Aaahhh... in the arcades, Gain Ground had a funky vertical monitor setup, and a 3 player configuration (red/blue/yellow versions of the players).
There was an interesting interview years back with the producer, he said only american arcades had the 3 player setup, which is why no home version supports more than 2 players, since all come from Japan (duh). I got the PCE version hoping it would support the three players :(
PCE version: Better colors, bigger sprites, much better CD music
Genesis version: English release (found mine at EB games last year), faster gameplay, and 2 player.
I almost never have someone around to play games, so I can forgive the PCE version (it is missing 10 of the 60 levels if I remember correctly).

So this game is only one player? Dammit, once again another game that should be 2 player but isn't. I'm looking at you golden axe and crest of wolf :-({|=
