Title: Pc-Engine Hell goes down in Oct.
Post by: PCEngineHell on 07/26/2015, 04:23 PM
Per Comcast, they are removing their free web hosting feature soon. Due to that the site will be removed in Oct. on the 8th, for good. I have not done anything to it or added any new content to it in a long time, and do not plan to move it to another hosting service, so not a concern. Mainly this is just a notice for anyone who wishes to save any content off of it before it goes. This includes pics, reviews, just whatever. I believe I saved James/Sinistrons reviews and re-posted them here already on a thread prior.

Hey Prof, you can archive your site on my web hosting service if you want.  You wouldn't be able to update it (without me uploading shit for you), but you could at least keep it online for posterity.  I would just make it a sub-site of my jibbajaba.com domain, which I only use to host images and do other dumb shit.

Prof:

I can also host if you'd like and give you SFTP/SSH access if you want to make updates. Just PM me if you're interested.

I still check it out regularly and will be bummed if it can't be hosted somewhere else.

I honestly don't have the time to work on it right now, as far as updates or new content goes. I wanted the sight to look really old school and strange, and keep it that way, but I ran out of free time to work on it on a regular basis. I would be more then happy to dl the thing and hand the files over to someone else if someone wants to host it further for now, and maybe even add to it. I think I used Frontpage 2003 to make it, retrieve it off Comcast and update and what not, so could prob just install that and redownload it, rar it and hand it over.

I will install FP2k3 this week, pull the data, and pm you guys, the ones who offered to host, and see what can be worked out. Maybe I can get some time in the fall/winter to add new content. I wanted to do more PCE/TG reviews and add a Nes/Snes section to cover some of the stranger or more interesting games that don't get covered much prior, but free time has always been a issue.

Just reading this. If you agree I could also upload to my hosting service in similar fashion to Jibbajaba (subdomain).

Quote from: guest on 07/26/2015, 10:39 PMThere are freeware programs (such as HTTrack) that will crawl a site and download all pages/resources.  Should be simple enough for interested parties to copy the site to their own servers...
Easy to download but I wouldn't upload it without the Professor's approval.

Now, if only I could find a copy of emux.com, I miss that one.
