Title: New to Forums and "kind of" new to TurboGrafx
Post by: PolygonDaily on 07/27/2015, 09:02 PM
Hi Everyone,

i have begun collecting TurboGrafx, i've got a small collection. About 30 games under 10 of them in Cases, i have a TurboGrafx 16 and a TurboExpress (needs to be recapped).

I decided i won't need them both, but also want to play CD games at some point, what is my best option as far as console goes? i have been told PCE Duo is the best for what i'd like to do, but you guys are the experts!

Thanks for any info, this forum is great

if anyone has instagram feel free to follow me @PolygonDaily

Welcome aboard! I suggest talking with Keith Courage to see if he has a Refurb Duo. Getting the attachment and a system 3.0 card is getting more and more expensive and by the time you get one you are just better off getting a Duo for much cheaper. Not only that, but you can also get a chopsado to play U.S or Japanese hucards depending on what flavor of Duo you get.

Welcome, comrade.

Yes, PCE DUO is your best bet.

But if money is an issue, there is no shame in enjoying all the inexpensive HuCARD titles first.

Welcome to Pcenginefx!

And yes, get a recapped, region-modded, video - modded PC Engine DUO from Keith Courage.

+1 on going for a region modded Duo (any version).

Welcome.

If younlike the turbo there are LOTS more japanese games than US. Get a japanese Duo-RX which will let you play all the cheap awesome import cards and ALL the cd games from both regions.

Hell its worth it just for Neo Nectaris alone.

Welcome to the fold...

A Recapped Duo would be awesome, but I prefer the sleek sexy Duo-R, no need for caps and the retro future look of the 90's

Either way, you can't go wrong.

is it difficult to mod a Duo-R to make it Region Free? i've modded consoles in the past, as well as phones so i do have experience (somewhat)

Kieth Courage here does really good mod/repair work on TG stuff and he would be your best bet honestly, unless you feel confident in your work.
He can mod them with AV and additional stuff too.

I normally would, but i think i'm going to sell or trade it off for some games i can play on my Duo. Also have a great condition TurboGrafx i think i'm going to do the same with.

I honestly won't ever touch them again as long as i have a Duo, i know it's a shame but i would much rather someone else owns them that will enjoy them.

This sounds perfectly rational. :)

However, I, along with several other folks, have a fetish for hardware and we couldn't get rid of TE/TG-16.

I don't know, play the heck out of them before you sell'em.

Like, even if you just stay up late playing Tricky Kick. ALL-NIGHTER.

Tricky Kick on TE is actually awesome...for certain reasons...hope you have excellent vision/divining skills.

Thats a great attitude.  I myself have a Tg16 that serves display duties and I just use my DUO R.  Hit me up on the Express, I'd love to work on one and upgrade the LCD.  I used to own a Turbo Express Back in the 90' but it was stolen.  I was indeed devastated those things were expensive.
