Shit happens. Between the post office handling, the way some folks treat games, and the poor mod work done on some systems, I'm surprised we didn't get more 'failed' cards.
And a factoid for you guys who care: We actually had about a 10-20% return rate; Many of the actual dead dead ones were from France. I'd like to put some shock sensors in next time, just to see how they got handled :)
And about 1/2 of the cards worked when they were returned. I still took them apart and re-soldered everything (just to make sure), but there didn't appear to be anything wrong to start with.
I chalk it up to people's varied quality of connectors in the systems.
My Super Grafx seems to be the most reliable for booting a card, probably because it was barely used.
Most failed ones are from Germany and France.
I think the Customs people in those countries are insane.
Germans and French don't care about having clean cart connectors in their consoles or games.
A lot of SNES cartridges and PS1 CD cases I've got from these countries were really dirty. I got a Tekken 3 that smelled like it was put in a moldy cellar for a decade, and a Gradius III that still needs a wipe everytime I want to play it from there.
I rather buy from the US and Japan now, since at least people care a bit more about selling their used games in clean condition.

I ordered a copy of a train IV for psx from Germany. The picture was clearly not of the same game. The one I git the case was all dirty and cracked. It would have cost me as much as I paid for it to ship it back so I just left it.

I never got a game that doesnt work from Germany, last year I got an N64 and SM64 for 40$ and one go it worked! Later I got SMK64 and it worked! But the French have bad systems and games, once I got a Dreamcast controller ands there was cheese all over it, ugh, and Doom 3 for XBOX and some kid drew all over the box and manual(wow I could send pics if you want me to)!

You know, I thought the whole DoxPhile thing was a running gag until the other day when I took a look and saw it was a extremely unfinished site with hardly any content and no forum activity. Reminds me of the RisingStuff forum harvesting, hoping that if they just grab enough people something will happen. The layout looks cool, but there is nothing there to keep me interested if I wanted to sign up.
I am guess people use it for a chat box though which is cool. But in general just not seeing anything going on there on their forum. Most all the topics have not had activity in awhile, and at this point from a personal perspective, DoxPhile has got to offer me more then a forum anyway to keep me coming back. I am already on enough forums so there is no appeal there.

I made PCEFX my home pretty much, I keep online activity mainly down to one forum. I was asked to join another forum, and only sometimes do I remember to stop by, but yeah, I don't need more online commitments so to speak and I'm satisfied enough hanging my hat here for the most part.

You and me both bubba. :) The other forums I frequent are more on the technical side (VOIP, Ubiquiti, Spiceworks), but it's usually for something I am researching for work.
