You could make some of us old timers/regulars 'trusted users' - let us mark certain posts as spam; those posts become hidden, and you can make a final determination at your leisure.
There is the potential for abuse - but A) When was the last time an argument got that heated around here?; B) If someone abuses the privlidge, take it away. C) If possible, make anyone who has at least one smile immune.
