I am cheap and have wanted to get into PCE for sometime but have been held back by the cost of admission for what many have recommended as a default setup (Duo-R [recapped and RGB modded] and TED).
So I bucked that good but pricey advice and about a month ago bought a $26 PCE that looks like it was covered in poop at some point off of ebay. This unit came with no cabling of any kind.
Since that purchase, I have oxi-cleaned the case and am waiting for a sunny day to peroxide it back to a color resembling white. A power cable and controller were acquired by trading a PVM to a nefarious user on here. Looking forward to scooping an rgb card off of db electronics in his next run. A TED was purchased on Black Friday from SAG.
Anyway, that is where I am at. Looking forward to enjoying my console and this community. Thanks for having me.

I know yo will enjoy the HuCARD games. It actually is a really nice way to discover/explore the PCE.
NO ONE will ever prevent you from playing CD-ROM titles in the future. You have plenty of time.

Long Story Short: Obey goes back to an old thread encouraging you to "OBEY" the PCE

To the points about poeple chiming in on still needing a DUO, While I would recommend getting CD support, I don't justify getting a DUO if you don't want to spend that much on a system. The hucard games on the TED are just freaking fine, In fact I play hueys way more than CD's anyway I find.
