TurboFest is an all OBEY event that runs from Friday night @6pm until Sunday night!!  We have the Turbobbers running almost the entire weekend (usually doors locked around 3am-6am) playing all the coolest games and systems known to man!!

And this year we have a special announcement!!-

TurboFest MGC '16- High Score Challenge!! -Will probably take place late afternoon on Saturday April 9th. But that could change to Sunday. You wont know what game you will be playing until the contest starts. First place will get their choice of a sealed New Adventure Island or Air Zonk for PC Engine. Second place will get to choose from the remaining game...or sealed Bomberman. Third place will get the last game left over.  Games for the tournament will be announced at the show, but any requests can be made in this thread!!  The pictured prizes below have been donated by our very own forumite - brrap!!

We also want to mention that if you're able to attend and want to hang out in the Turbo Room, we're looking for a few people to bring systems (TG, PCE, SGX, PC-FX) and some CRT TVs for the show.  We're thinking we'll be able to fit 8 stations so if anyone would like to bring their system sets we'd love to have the help!!

Josh, I will bring the Tiny 8" Funai and 2 Duos + controllers/hookups if I make it. Going to be short on games, though so probably Xanadu, Mysterious Song (2 HOUR SPEEDRUN FTW), and The Addams Family.

I wish I could come. I have a pair of Commodore 1702 and a 1804 that could be used for gaming displays.

I hear there will be a demo of catastrophy there...

I was planning on driving up the night before, but I forgot the wife's birthday is on the 8th so it looks like I gotta hit the road early on Saturday to be there.

I will bring a Super Cd rom2 and core grafx. No room for a tv this year tho

I am coming.  Do we still need more hardware?  I can probably bring a couple Turbos.  One bare naked and one with CD but only have a basic system card for it.  I have a few controllers and a couple of taps.  I don't have any small enough TVs to bring (going to have 2 other peeps in the car too)  but if something pops up locally between now and then I can bring one.

Joshie: none of my turbobs are being used in the main museum this year...I've got a spare SuperGrafx if you could use it. I've also got a briefcase with a malfunctioning CD-ROM2 (anybody want to fix it? :D), but it'll play HuCards. Just let me know.

Nothing like driving to work directly from the show, still semi-intoxicated, with a car full of TVs and bullshit.

Great show - always goes by way too fast. Nice to put faces to names as always. Some cool shit went down - got to hold the Nintendo Playstation during museum setup, and got to be on hand for NeoTurfMasta to debut his recently discovered Neo prototype. Josh & co. did a great job with the Turbo room, as always.

Yes, hats(tris) off to Josh and crew for setting everything up. I really do enjoy imbibing while talking shop with fellow like minded obeyers. I usually to not intro myself since that would require the socially accepted response form the other person to tell me their name, that I'd just forget within two minutes. But, shout outs to everyone I met new and old last wknd.

Honestly, I'd have to say that this year's TurboFest (and MGC) will go down as my favorite gaming weekend so far!  It was super great to meet everyone that stopped by to say hello and game with us.  I actually got to play much more than in years past likely due to us setting up a day early this year.  So much less stress!!

I can't remember the names of all the cats that stopped by, but it was awesome to hang with you all!

There wasn't as much tinkering/modding work going on this year, but I am very thankful for Jodi adjusting my lasers on the PCFX and Duo for me!  They work so much better now!!

Overall, it was a truly legendary weekend and I look forward to more gatherings in the future!!

Our good friend Chany runs the TurboFest event at this year's upcoming Video Game Summit in July.  That is held in the Chicago area.

You go to MAGFest? Last year we started a museum area, with more focus on 8 and 16bit consoles and computers. Turbo representation might not be as large(we had 4 obey setups running last year) as Turbofest at MGC but we are getting a larger room for next year. I also bring a couple of turbob to Animazement. Retro section there is only about 18 setups, 2600 to PS1.
