Title: Hey 'n Stuff
Post by: Kyau on 04/23/2016, 02:14 PM
   Hey!

   'n stuff.

Thought I'd say hello and give everyone a firm handshake in greeting, or a wink and finger-guns if you're not into that kind of thing.

Some quick background- asked for a TG-16 for my birthday when they came out, got it, then proceeded to encourage 4 of my friends to get them too. I eventually acquired about 1/3 the games released in the US annnnnd promptly sold everything for who-knows-what when I moved away from home for the first time.
I realized my error and have been kicking myself firmly every moment of every day since. Got myself another one and a few games in the late 90s early 2000s(?) I forget, and was just happy to have it back. Then just started sort of... rebuying what I could when I could just to get back to what I once had.
Found an inexpensive LaserActive player with the Sega Pac and so really now, aside from a few games I owned that I'm missing the only other thing I'm really on the look out for is the TG-16 pac for it. It keeps rummage sales, garage sales and flea markets exciting.

So that's me in a nutshell, and in that nutshell I can count myself a king of infinite space.

I'm looking forward to wading through old posts and reading new ones about everyone elses experiences and funtimes with this neato platform.

I'd love to hear about one of your favorite games and why you like it so much if you reply.

For me I guess I'd say Dungeon Explorer. It was challenging to little Kyau when I was he and it was fun spending so much time trying to get good at it. Having so many options for characters and being able to build them up as you played was a lot of fun too.

So anyway, thanks for having me and I look forward to hanging out with you all.

Welcome, comrade. :)

Dungeon Explorer was/is a great game.

I was fortunate enough to play it with four other people back in the day. Lots of fun.

I haven't really had a chance to play the Dungeon Explorer games as anything but a co-op (with my brother, or my daughter) in the last few years, though.

I still think the chiptunes kick butt.

The entire game is packed with fantastic music that contributes to the atmosphere.

I prefer to play this game in the evening, so I can see the screen better...back in the day I might have adjusted the brightness/contrast...

The unlockable characters are great, but I confuse which folks are hidden in the two games...leading to much confusion when I can't play as MR. ROBOTO in the original HuCARD.

Welcome n' stuff.

Dungeon Explorer are great games. I'm actually working through part 2 now. The music is awesome. Reminds me a lot of Ys.

There's a robot in the first game!? I don't remember that. I'm playing as BE right now in 2. He looks like a robot chicken flapping around, but he's a great character.

Thanks for the warm greetings! Always a great feeling when you find a cool new place is super welcoming.

After thinking about it I decided to go back and play through Dungeon Exlporer in the next few days with a more critical eye... see how much of what I liked about it was nostalgia (that music!) and also see if I'm any better at it now that I've matured. Physically at least.

Welcome aboard!  Dungeon Explorer is definitely an easy one to love.  If you ever find that elusive pac  (or a more economical PCE pac or relatively cheap Duo), make sure you pick up the sequel.  It's all the awesome of the original but longer and with more characters to master.
