Generally I find watching any kind of videos of other people playing video games boring as fuck, but the one genre I find actually entertaining to watch is fighting games, only when it's highly skilled players. (edit: and some videos of highly skilled speed run of games can be interesting to watch)
So I will be watching EVO this year http://evo.shoryuken.com (http://evo.shoryuken.com), anyone else on here going to watch it?
Apparently some of it will be broadcast on ESPN2

Man, I can't believe Evo is this weekend already. I always try to catch it, as I love me some fighting games and find high-level play exciting to watch. Incredible things happen every year at Evo, and it's that much more incredible when you catch it live.
I was pretty surprised by the ESPN announcement; they'll be showing the Street Fighter V finals on Sunday night.
If I get back from Chicago in time on Sunday, I'll be watching with some friends. Local VG store usually stays open late to have a viewing party.
I watch it every year, and will be doing so this weekend as well. My wife and friends are throwing a birthday party for me and I told them, "That's cool. As long as we can have EVO on in the background."
I was there and did quite poorly! In previous years I've done somewhere between mediocre and alright; I've generally placed in top 100 orso in SF4. I took 65th in SF4 last year and 33rd a couple of times before then.
This year? I did not place as well! I only entered SFV and I thiiiink I took a 256 way tie for 769th out of 5065 this year but I'm honestly not sure.
Wow, man. Cool that you go there to compete! Sounds like a fun time. I love Street Fighter, but I've never claimed to be any good at it.
The nice thing about Street Fighter is that it's so easy to tell what's going on! Even compared to other fighting games, there's very little abstract knowledge that you have to have to understand who's winning, who's losing, and what the characters are trying to do.
IMO, Street Fighter is the best video game for spectating purposes.
