I see that guy is wearing ceremonial vestments. Is this one of those Christian rock bands?

I saw them when they opened for Opeth/Mastodon back in 2012 and again this past summer at Revolution Rock Fest in CT. Picked up their first album a couple days later and it's still one of my favorites.
The lyrics are ridiculous but how about that cover art...

The Song "He Is" reminds me a bit of some mega church chanting song, but with more realistic meaning and awesomeness!
I always picture Cthulhu rising from the ocean and crowds of mindless HuMans waltzing into the waters with eyes bleeding. :)

So they are less exciting GWAR? I listened to a few songs, music was good, but singer wasn't for me. Bring Back the Bomb.

Not as exciting as GWAR. You won't see George Bush fed to a mutant vagina, to be puked back out over the audience.
But as musicians, they are much more talented than Gwar. I've seen both, and I'll take Ghost any day.
All hail to the King baby...

I listened to these guys back in 2011 and thought they were all right. Not my thing. No way would I ever realize they'd get this big. Soon my kid can get their shirts at Hot Topics. I used to think "Man these lyrics are actually really Satanic and I listen to all kinds of Death/Black metal" Maybe it really is just for show like old Slayer.

Are you referencing Ghost or Lord I?

Yeah it's a little different. A lot of bands sing about satanic themes, but ghost is more like praise music for satan, which really makes it much creepier and unsettling IMO.
I really like their music. It has progressive leanings, and the vocals are refreshing.
Its a nice change to listen to darker themed music that isn't a mish mash of growling and blast beat drumming.

He almost reminds me of R.E.M. there. Could go a lot further without the Satan shtick but whatever, heh.

pfft, I'd say they've gotten farther because of the schtick. Bands that leave a lasting memory go places. There are plenty (brazillions) of really talented bands that just fall between the cracks.
...especially brazillion thrash bands. Regarding Ghost I don't think it's schtick. Which is why I don't understand the huge popularity with them. Even when I first listened to them I was like "man these really are dark satanic lyrics." Not along the lines of over the top death black stuff. I think it's their music that's their schtick to appeal to more people.

To be honest, I kinda thought the lame, "
Ooo, look at me, I'm a scary devil worshipper!" shtick died out late 70's, early 80's, heh.
